I have had a meltdown for the ages trying to get a 3 blank order from North Fork Composites, and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on getting blanks from them within the last few years? Most of the forum complaints I can find are from 2019-2020, although the BBB page is full of 2023 complaints. I ordered 3 of their colored fly blanks in JUNE, for a fishing trip in August. Checked up on them later in June, September, October, then finally a week ago. Was responded to promptly the first 3 times, but the issue as explained over email was that they couldn't get the coloring for the rods. Then, for this most recent checkup in December, I was told that I had actually canceled my order in early JULY, BY PHONE, which they don't have any proof of and which is impossible. I was never sent any email, never given a refund, etc.. I obviously flipped out and got into it with 2 separate managers, who claimed in some heated exchanges with me that they were taking reponsibility for the "miscommunication" while continually suggesting I did indeed cancel the order over the phone. Got into a shouting match (over email), they are refusing to send the rods, and i'm still waiting for confirmation of a refund.

I guess this is a half-vent, half-warning, half-question. Obviously I'm venting because I waited 6 months for these, put up with several email exchanges, now have nothing to show for it, and the customer service was combative, to say the least. What you read about NFC in all the forums has absolutely come true for me. However, has anyone had any good recent experiences, or bad recent experiences? This truly has been wild, and 6 months out, it's still ongoing

There are quite a few NFC/Edge fan boys in here so your post probably won't go over that well. It's been well documented that they have terrible customer service but for some reason they get a pass by many on this forum. In my time here I have never seen any other companies with horrible customer service get a pass but for some reason NFC/Edge do.

I wouldn't call myself a "fan boy" or give them a "pass" on poor service. I think for many customers the planets align and everything works out with Edge. For example, this Spring I recieved my order in 2 weeks instead of the 6-8 I was expecting and the rod is everything I hoped it would be.

Sorry the newbie OP and others have had a bad experience and hope their customer service is evolving to a higher standard.

Blank color is the last criteria I use when selecting a rod. I wonder if the OP was wrapping up a special gift?

From what I see as a consumer, they are in some type of holding pattern of finances. Broken tops, sure that happens, they will replace them as stated in their warranty.

I stopped buying from them, Ordered a Lamiglas blank, IN STOCK, it got here in 2 days.

NFC lead time is plainly stated, its just a slice of pita bread.

To the OP, you are not alone! I've had many dealings with NFC. Some good, some bad. One time I mentioned they had poor customer service on a Facebook page and the CEO screenshotted it, sent me an email, and banned my account to prevent us from every doing business again! The guy is a loon who spends too much time on his phone doing damage control online rather than seeing orders get fulfilled!

NFC isn't a normal rod blank company, it's what is called a boutique shop vs mass production and the carbons they use aren't the run of the mill carbon/resin systems. You have to understand they are not the top dog as far as purchasing power, lots of aviation and other industries also use these products in much bigger, contract driven purchases. If they can't get the stuff they can't build blanks, rod blanks are also not their only iron in the fire. high tech, one of a kind radio attennas for one. Look at the variety and increased variety coming out of this company, see that from any other? How do you run your business when mass ordering of specific blanks that are then sent out and warehoused by others who also take a profit is not how you do business? Lamiglas' entire blank catalog is smaller than many categories at NFC. It's ok if you don't do business with NFC, buy at these prices, they understand. If you want it now, or sort of now since everyone runs short from time to time, do so, I'm sure there are lots that will sell you 15+ year old designs for more money have at it.

This really does not serve as an excuse for their lack of customer service. I don't care if they're busy and have their hands in all these different cookie jars so to speak. Fact is, they sell a product claiming 3 weeks delivery upon ordering and then hold on to peoples money for months at a time. All the while ignoring phone calls and emails about said order while the customer is left in the dark wondering what the heck is going on. If you're going to take months to fil an order because you're too busy with "more important" clientele then so be it. I did my part with full payment up front so they at least need to do their part and be transparent about when they'll be filling their end of the bargain.
