I posted the solution a year ago
get all the rolled up barbed wire from farmers junk pile and strech it out in the hole.
end of problem!!!!!!
it works for us if you dont beleive me try snagging in bretts hole below our place.
I agree with w.r.o. when the hatchery has there quota, open the river to snagging for 1/2 mile below the hatchery, with no limit.
it could be a way to harvest these fish.instead of sending them off to pet food in a tote.
I see all this yapping about ethics but i see no solutions,
we solved our problem, it was a problem.
we have salted the holes to protect the small chinook run we have here on the n.f.nehalem.
as to snagging hatchery coho i am all for it let's harvest them like crap says.
over the years i have found 90% of so called true sports fisher people will put on the trebles and joyfully go to snagging ----if they know they are perfectly safe. that is the key. are they safe??
my vote has ,and always will be,legalize snagging below the hatchery for 1/2 mile.
