The other day I received the age card from my 2020 Willamette Buck. We had a little trail camera history with this buck, and judging by his characteristics we were pretty sure he was an old deer. We finally had 1 encounter with him and I connected at last light on a stormy November day. The teeth surely confirmed his age status but I was really excited when I saw this age Card come back at 12.5.

Nothing like cagey, old, Roman-Nosed blacktail bucks. Especially during a nasty November storm. This one was special!

I shot an old grey faced heavy 2 point and stopped at game check. They pulled a tooth and I got a card about 8 months later. The buck was almost 14 years old and had a biologist from WDFW call me to get more information a few weeks later. Rare for them to get past 10 according to biologist because the teeth wear out and health declines.
