Ive got this motor, it has been partially torn down to reveal the pistons. It needs new rings and Good News! The cylinder walls are not scored at all. Does anyone here know how to hone them out and replace rings on the pistons? I could really use the help to get on the water. Ive even got pics of the motor. Will post them later.

Re: 60 hp johnson motor

this is a eazy job to do if you just take your time
use a ball hone and lots of oil just like honing any other cylinder
if reusing the pistons check to see if the skirt is collapsed
use an old ring broken in two and ground down to clean the groove
and the rings have pins so you can't miss align them
make sure to clean out the recirc passages

Go to Joe's and buy a manual it will walk you thru the process. I did a force 90 hp. The only ting I had to get was some assy. lube for the needle brg's from a outboard shop. Go to seatemp.com for the parts they have the best prices I could find for the parts...
