That's why a group of 5 family and friends stopped coming to Oregon for deer and elk. WY or MT now.

 

I am sure there will be no shortage of applicants.

 

Selfishly I was super opposed to the draw. I loved that those of us willing to take a day off work, drive to Idaho and spend a night in line had good opportunity to draw tags. Felt like the last system I really had great odds of getting a tag in. O well, everyone complained and wanted a draw and now we can all sit on the sidelines and watch some of these general units become a once every 8 year draw.

 

It’s turned into such a mess now, they’ll be 5 choices I’m guessing that getting a tag won’t be that bad. Plus you can put in with buddy’s and hunt together.

 

I don’t know a state that doesn’t have the requirement to buy a license upfront to apply for tags.

 

At least WY gives you your money back if you don't draw.

 

Money is no object to some people---apply in a lot of states and get drawn in some. If they dont get drawn where they want---buy their way in with a guide. $185 is just chump change to some.

 

Buy more tags and less gear then. Better get used to it changing. It will change again and there will be more fee increases. Bold prediction, I know.

And too think we use to buy a second elk tag over the counter during season... the good old days are long gone looks like. Now fighting for scraps

 

You were playing the game back then and winning. It’s a battle for information to get tags out of state. Game changed but players are the same.

 

The online waiting room system was a joke. Only real chance of getting a tag was to drive to Idaho and stand in line. Paying the license fee sucks but state's want that Pittman Robertson money. I'm happy to see this change.

 

Pull out your phone and do both while waiting in store. It’s their flaw. How many dudes have 20 spots in the waiting room before they get assigned a number? Can’t believe they don’t make you login first…. Maybe the system can’t handle that many logins? Either way the system needs tweaking. We don’t need 10000 folks from back east with 5-10 spots in the waiting room just to see if they’ll get a number high enough to decide if they’ll hunt Idaho that year vs somewhere else. Up front fee eliminates a lot of that.

Haha. I was mainly kidding. I'm just saying- all of that is gone, now. So no need to tweak it at this point. The system needed a change of some kind and they definitely did that, they eliminated it.

 

So happy they went to a draw. The old way was the worst of any state and such a waste of time.

 

I’m glad it’s a draw now also. The old system was a step above a con job for a lot of people. I know of one guy who would charge people for him to get in line the day prior and then stand at the counter for 20+ people to get tags. Outfitters did the same for clients. It wasn’t fair, even for the ones who were honest about traveling there just for their tag. I’ll gladly pay the license fee so I don’t have to waste half my day yelling at the computer just so I can finally login after 3-5 hours just to see all of the tags I wanted sold out already.

 

I'm going to wait for Ryan Lampers to give his Application Master Class on how to beat the odds for non-resident tags in Idaho.

 

It’s easy…. Just go hunt. Don’t even worry about a license.

 

I'm waiting to see the thousands of people complaining when they draw a BS tag or no tag at all after spending $180 just to play lol.
