Not many days left before we head east this year for some early elk and deer with the wife, daughter and her husband and 3 grandkids! The young boys are ready to go!

We have to work on his stance a bit, but at 3 yrs old he is having fun! Lol😁 he has 2 younger brothers keeping an eye on him! Haha

My wife and daughter were in UT last week when I headed up to Alaska with our other daughter. They killed a 5 pt bull together so the freezer is officially full and I can look for a true monster in AZ starting the 16th.

 

Short season but I only was going to have 3 days to hunt due to obligations.

. I’ve only hunted two days so far this season and both days got bulls bugling. The one I killed, I located off of old timber Landing yesterday morning at about 8 o’clock with a location bugle. Got him going pretty good for a while snuck and into about 120 yards but he wouldn’t leave his cows and a cow came and eventually busted me and they took off. I waited about a half hour and they moved over about a half mile from where they were. I relocated the cows ,feeding from a timberline into a clear cut. Belly crawled through the clear cut and got in the middle of his herd once I was 40 yards from his cows,I could hear him in the creek bottom timber running around. I challenge bugled him, and he came running in ****ed. Shot him at 52 yards, double lung pass through, ran about 40 yards and I watched him die. He passed in about 40 seconds.

Well it was to windy to salmon fish so me and my oldest went on our first deer hunt of the year. Saw over 20 bucks, made 4 stalks, 2 ended with being in bow range, and 1 ended with a shot opportunity. The buck was 57 yards away and spooked when I shot, but the arrow ended up entering behind the last rib and broke off in the opposite shoulder for a quick kill. An epic day for sure

 

That's a great buck. Must be tough getting close in that open country! Glad you made a perfect shot. Love the background in that picture!!

 

Drew a special tag in the 25% pool. Didn’t have time to preseason scout. So the first 4 days I spent driving around the unit. Found elk pretty much everyday besides one. Passed a few nice bulls in bow range. On the 7th day, I let one fly! What an experience.
