Looks like its time to get a thread started. See attached current regs from the odfw site for seasons.

One of the most disappointing moments of my teenage years. Was a Coho opener on a charter boat. I had thoughts of these monster salmon we would be catching! And then the rods started going down! And then we were reeling in these little 4 to 6 pound fish 🤣 I’ll wait a month šŸ˜Ž

Got out today with the wife, picked up a couple decent fish.

They cut okay.

Had to let a couple bigger ones go, too many fins.

We were using Ford Fenders and a worm.

We started out with common garden hackle dyed lime green fronted by a smiley blade in prism design. Three gold beads between worm and blade. All we caught were native coho so we switch up to 3’ tapeworms from the digestive tracts of juvenile capybaras fed exclusively on mangos. Watermelon pattern transitioning to Cop Car. You can get creative with three feet of worm.

The best speed was just fast enough to bulge the surface but not fast enough to skip. Most hits came on the inside rods when doing S-turns.

Good luck!

I think hes been dipping into what he sells ;):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Taking home the sample paks!🤣

What I’m selling these days treats a disease you don’t want. I never did the ED stuff but I had antivirals (for the herps and such) and a long-acting morphine (but no samples, sorry).

A few antibiotics might have found a place in the medicine cabinet but that’s conjecture.

I'm guessing either nobody went after them or didn't find any coho yesterday?
(Trying to keep the thread active)
I spent an hour or close too it, after halibut drifting and had no action.

Water was cold at 48 to 50ish degrees on the way in from the pile.

Some good slicks, but no action for me. Felt good to troll again for what its worth!

Short "report" for today. I spent about 3 hrs trolling between Waldport and Ona Beach, from 160 to 190 ft. By myself. Had 4 hits / hookups, the one coho I got to the boat was a "nate" released with the shaker hook. One other hookup was solid, lost it after 20 seconds. The other 2 were the drive-by variety. All hits were fairly shallow, and within sight of small groups of murres, with bait marks up high. 51 - 52 deg water.

Yesterday (Monday) there were about a dozen commercial trollers working in 70 - 80 fathoms, NW of the N rockpile. The water in that area / depth was much cleaner than the light brown in 50 fathoms.

How big was the high finner?

Probably an honest 5 lbs. She was pished off...darted away like a girl I once tried to date.

We went south of the pile 3 miles and trolled for about 45 minutes with nothing. Ran home and stopped at otter crest and marked a ton of bait and a few good marks. Trolled there for an hour or so and had one drive by. Charter was fishing off pirate cove in 160-220fow and had 3 in and one release. We trolled our line from last season that’s in the same area for about 2 hours and came up empty. Probably would have been releasing them all anyways unless it had been a good size.
