Gigantic sunfish. Had to be 6-8 feet long.
No pic, but a breaching whale down by Three Arches that stayed in the area for at least 30 minutes.

 

I think we are a go for tomorrow assuming I’m reading the forecast correctly. Anyone else running?

 

I'll be there heading out about 7:00AM, I hope to find em in the spots everyone has had luck in the past few days As of now the forecast is looking pretty darn good.

The one chinook limit per person doesn’t have to be a clipped fish, correct? Just want to make sure before I go.

Started out strait out about 190-200, one small chinook released. Moved down to 31/02 and got our fish. Not red hot, 8-10 other boats working the area. Took a little longer than Saturday, lost several fish at the boat. Largest coho just under 13 lbs. Saw several whales.

 

Just got done cleaning up so time for a report. But first off I'd like to thank Pearl for the PM he sent me a couple days ago with everything I needed to pay attention to that would help me catch fish it sure worked today

Anyway, went straight out and tried a couple spots with nothing but jellyfish so moved north a bit about half way between Twin Rocks and Nehalem. One other boat around and they caught a fish so figured fish here. Was right at 250', got into fish right away and managed to knock off the 1st 3 while trying to net I'm usually pretty decent but today was a struggle. Fortunately I did make up for it netting this one


Then got this one for my limit for today.


All the fish came on a pink and white spinfish, pro troll flasher at 33ft on the line counter and tuna with bloody tuna added.

We were in similar area, 260fow off Twin Rocks. We also had jellyfish closer in. Our only bite of the day was a double. Probably looked like a 3 stooges skit as we were not prepared
Got off the water before noon.

 

Anyone fishing today? Thinking of fishing tomorrow, looks like it might be a decent day before the wind kicks in the rest of the week?

 

I was thinking about tomorrow but I'm only semi-retired, gotta go to work. Post pics if you go.

 

Still lots of quota available. On paper it looks as if the ocean fishery will go until the end of September?

Unfortunately the ocean forecast isn‘t looking good for a while from what I see. I’ll be watching it closely! I still need to put a dent in that quota 😁.

 

Any recent reports on Coho/King fishing out of Garibaldi?
Looking at Monday for next trip out.

So most years if the weather should behave will the fishing still be good for the next couple of weeks or will the fish be gone? The weather doesn't look that promising but I sure would like to get out again if there would still be fish to catch

JettyJunkie those both sure look like nice fish - congrats! Didn't think it would be fishable today but looks like it was.

 

Swell this morning was between 4.3’-4.5’ at 12 seconds or at least that it seemed to me. Hard to find feed or a temp break today. Fish 20 minutes move and repeat trying to find fish. I got a stern talking to when I came in by the coast guard for going over a restricted bar. It wasn’t that bad though and even they told me it was a borderline restriction. They lifted the restriction 30 minutes after I went out.

 

Did you find any fish? Just curious, were you under the length restriction? They wouldn't let me in one day and I was 1' under the restriction.
