Default Scope rings help

I am about to pull the trigger on a Leupold VX-6HD 3-18 50MM, but could be talked into 44mm if someone wants to try.

I have a Tikka T-3 30-06 and I'm not sure what i need for Scope rings. I'm looking at the Leupold Backcountry 2-Piece Medium rings. Will the scope clear with medium?

Are there other brands you'd suggest, and if so what height?

I gotta think someone else has this setup, or very close. Thanks for any help.

I am a fan of Talley aluminum rings for high power rifles and Burris "Posalign" for low power rifles. The Burris rings allow you to adjust your scope to the center of your scope "clicks" rather than having to make a large number of "click" adjustments by using offset cams in the rings.

18X is a lot of magnification for an '06. Sure you want to pack around that much weight and bulk? If hunting open country was the goal, I'd probably be happy with a 2 X 7.

IMHO one of the best ways to mount a scope on a T3/ T3X is the Sportsmatch rings. Not sure though if you could get away with the mediums with a 50MM scope, I have then with this 42MM and still have some room so the 44MM would work?? Tough to find though but bullet proof for sure.

On the scope - are you getting a good deal, lots of really good/better options at that price point especially if you plan on dialing your scope much.

It’s a great scope if you have the money to burn. The vx5 3-15 is the same glass for a few hundred dollars less. “Typically” medium leupold rings will clear a 44mm but a 50mm will req high. Your results may vary.

I have seekins on my t3x and they have been excellent. Worth the coin.
