New handgun purchase
I am looking at buyng a new handgun today. I am leaning towards a Canik TP9SF 9mm. Do you guys have any experience with these? Good? Bad?
They seem to have really good reviews.

New handgun purchase
I played with one. I hated it. Felt weird. Wasn’t very accurate. Had feeding issues
Can’t believe I am saying this but if that’s your price range get a glock 19. You can find them often for about 400. It’ll give you a lifetime of trouble free service.
When you buy the Canik remember not many know what it is and will be hard to sell.

Re: New handgun purchase
No experience. Like Bradly said, feel is very important. When I bought my first handgun I looked at everything at the shop that was in my price range. Didn't shoot any but held them in shooting position. Glock was immediately dismissed. Beretta was OK, but not great. As soon as I held the Springfield XD, it felt like it was meant for my hands. I always recommend Springfield, and the XD 9mm is typically in the same price range as what you'er looking for.

Pretty much agree. I don’t like glocks because of how they feel in hand. Many people do.
If I was going to throw out a full-size 9mm that was awesome I’d go sig p226
But a glock 19 is found inexpensive, runs great, high cap. Alternative would be the p320, Springfield xd or Smith and Wesson m&p

Re: New handgun purchase
Never heard of a Canik...sorry, can't add any input there.
I do love my Glock 19, 43X & 40.
Can't trust my life with a Sig or M&P Pistol...too many failures in my time with them...
My Springfield feels probably the best out of all my pistols.

Re: New handgun purchase
They are made by century arms, It has a 18 round mag, Its gotta be better than my ec9. I cant hit squat with it, The guy at the gun store told me that my current weapon is only really good for 10ft or so.
I bought the canik, but once it gets here, I can decide from there if its going to work for me. It might be here by friday. I will find out before I filll out all the paperwork. If not they had another gun there I liked also. I think it was the springfield xd.

What kind of failures have you experienced with these brands?

Too many failure to extract/eject/feed. Sent the M&P back to Smith...still had the same problem, so I sold it. I didn't hate it when it worked...aftermarket wolf barrel, laser site, etc. I do not believe it was do to a limp wrist or ammo.
This is just my experience with 1 of each gun...could have been lemons! Never shot any others...

I see them used almost every time I am in a gun shop. It’s been at least a year but Keith’s had three or four for 400

Re: New handgun purchase
If you look online at places like AIMSURPLUS, you can find LEO tradeins for many brands and many Glock models. Many come with night sights.

No they didn't have new Glock 19s for $400. You probably confused Police tradeins.
I'm a long-time Glock owner/shooter, but Glocks are over priced compared to competition. E.g. M&P9 2.0 Compact. I can get Ruger Security 9 for underv $300 anytime. And don't give me mall ninja bs about Glock superiority - it doesnt exist today.

The regular price at D&B Supply is $430 for a gen 4. I believe most dealers will sell a gen 3 for $400 or less, but unless you're in CA, gen 3 aren't so popular and are not always on the shelf.

Re: New handgun purchase
The Canik is on my list if I ever buy a full size 9mm again but I am a 10mm shooter for the most part. The Canik is accurate, reliable, well made, good trigger, inexpensive. I have been on a revolver binge lately. This year I have purchased another M&P Shield, Taurus 65, Colt Metropolitan, S&W Model 64 and a S&W Model 10.

Re: New handgun purchase
I went yesterday to go and check out my new Canik, It feels very nice in the hand, has a good weight to it, Everything seemed great. I went ahead and did the paperwork, once I came up in the que, I ended up getting delayed, so needless to say, I havent picked it up yet. I already own a few guns so I dont know what the problem is. Hopefully monday or tuesday I will get the verdict and I will get to bring it home.

I would use my Sig P226 to dig clams with and not lose any trust in it to defend my life. 😏
