Default PAC-12 Football Championship thread

Utah (probably) or USC.

If Utah, I think the Ducks get beat. If USC, the Ducks stand a chance. Opinions?

Ducks fan and I’ll say Utah is going to prove Ducks had no business ever being in the CFP discussions. (Arizona state did us a favor ending that dream.)

If it’s Utah- I’m rooting for them so PAC12 stands a chance in the CFP selection. My seats are next to the visitor section and I’ve always appreciated the Utah fans being classy over the years.

If it’s USC then I’m all in for the Ducks and would expect a win.

I hope the PAC 12 team that wins makes the CFP. Auburn beat Bama today, so Bama is pretty much out. Georgia will likely lose against LSU next week, so seems like there is an opening for Utah if they are the team that wins the PAC 12 championship. If they can’t beat USC, I guess it wouldn’t matter if they got in or not.

Utah is looking damn good tonight! The Ducks are going to have to play a WHOLE lot better than they have the last two weeks if they hope to win....

I’m a duck fan but I don’t see them beating Utah, might be hard pressed to keep it close the way they’ve been playing lately!

A lot of you guys have already echoed my thoughts.

If Oregon comes out and plays like they did against Auburn - Ducks win easily.

If Oregon comes out and plays like they did the last few weeks - Utah steamrolls them, wins a Pac12 Championship, and the 4th spot in the CFB playoff (assuming LSU beats Georgia).

Utah should be favored against Oregon, but Oregon will be competitive and could win. But Utah will have a hard time getting into the CFP even if they beat Oregon. The Big 12 is now guaranteed a one loss champ. Utah's problem is that they play in the Pac 12 which is weak. If they beat Oregon it will be their only win against a top 25 team. The only other top 25 team they will have played is USC, to which they lost. If the Big 12 champ is Baylor, it will have 3 wins against a top 25 team. If it is Oklahoma, it will have 4 wins against a top 25 team.

Utah's only top 25 victim would be Oregon (10, 11, 12?) which will not be as highly ranked as the win the Big 12 champ will beat in their championship game as both Baylor and Oklahoma will be a top 8 team. So, the route to the championship is more difficult for the Big 12 champ, which is more likely to get rewarded with a playoff spot.

If the Pac 12 wants national recognition, it needs to get some good football programs besides Oregon and Utah. As long as Oregon continues to dominate the other Pac 12 schools in recruiting, the Pac 12 will continue to have too many weak teams.

Utah is an early 4.5 point favorite.

As for weak teams, didn’t Washington make it to the playoffs last year? The Fiesta Bowl the year before that? The Peach before that?

Ducks seem to play up and down to their level of competition.
That is a common problem in sports.
The 9 year old and 12 year old Baseball Teams I coach do this.

I’m expecting a close game.

Go Ducks!

Well I guess you’ll have 9 more months before your Beavers play another game. I get to enjoy 2 more games to watch this year. Oh and if you haven’t noticed the Ducks men’s basketball team is pretty darn good and the women’s are #1 in the country. It’s good to be a duck fan. I guess you do have baseball season to look forward to. Win the Day

Oregon beat OSU Saturday because they simply had better athletes. The coaching, game plan and adjustments of OSU were all better. A few years of good recruiting and I think OSU will be a force in the conference. Jonathan Smith is a coach not a cheerleader.

Oregon has regressed for several weeks. The players play like they believe they are owed a win. Defense is worse than a month ago and the offense is atrocious. They can’t run consistently and struggle to get receivers open. They are predictable and execute lazily. A new OC is needed desperately, someone with more than 3 plays in their playbook. 1st down zone run, 2nd down zone run, 3rd down bubble screen...80% of the time.

Conversely, they have segments of elite play on both sides of the ball. It could be interesting with Utah depending on what Oregon team shows up. My prediction is Utah makes them their second wife.

First off congrats to the Ducks & Utes I've been too busy to watch any games in their entirety this year, but plan on watching the Championship game Fri, Ducks will need to bring their A game to have any chance IMO....if they even have a A game at this point? Defense wins championships, Utah has that defense, & is playing good ball on both sides of the field, Oregon is not, win or loose Oregon is having a better season than I expected. GO DUCKS!!!

Ducks need new coaching. Obviously Cristobal aint cuttin it. He got top draft pics and has fantastic facilities and local support. And his team has been flat out embarrassing half the time. He has talented playrs so there is no excuse for such inconsistency. On a positive note his punter is getting good practice!
We should go back to wearing only our college colors until things change. Get rid of the disco glitzy uniforms until we earn the right to wear them.
We can beat Utah if we dont play like we deserve to win.

You are correct , poor coaching and poor play calling . Herbert does not want to use his legs in fear of injury affecting his N.F.L. prospects . Hate to say it but Utah by 14 . If Utah makes it into the final 4 they will be destroyed .

Herbert looked below average in the civil war. How many times did he miss open receivers? He was 18-30 with a season low 174 yards.

He’s been off for a few games lately, I wonder if he’s hiding an injury.

The only time I can remember that the ducks looked really good and fun to watch play was with Chip Kelly. He was a real coach.

I figured something went wrong when the team rallied to have Cristobal as their new head coach, even though he really didnt have the qualifications. Sort of like a bunch of schoolkids defending to keep their favorite teacher because they didnt want the whip cracker.

I don’t know if you have seen these shorts put out by a bank. But, they are pretty funny. This one is about Bama not being in the playoff club any more. A fake Utah makes an appearance.

I’d rather watch the last 10 mins to make the correct discussion

So as a Beaver fan, whom should I root for? It seems to me we would benefit most from a Utah win, putting the Utes in the CFP and the Ducks in the Rose Bowl. Of course this assumes that Utah would get into the CFP with a win, and that both teams would represent well in their respective games. I don't "hate" the Ducks; I just don't waste a lot of time following them. But if I need to root against them tonight....

In the PAC 12, I’m a UW and WSU fan. No doubt I’m for Utah to win to get the PAC 12 in the CFP again. No benefit for the other PAC 12 teams for Oregon to win it. I don’t think it will matter who I’m for on my tv. I don’t think the Utah or Oregon teams will hear me.

Same for me.............

I'm a Beavs fan but I root for the Ducks as they are an Oregon university (except when they're playing my Beavs).......

I too would like to see Utah make it into the CFP as a PAC12 representative, good for the PAC as a whole..........

I just hope it is a good game......

As a native Oregonian, I'm a Beavers & Ducks fan & am/are always rooting for the Ducks, however rooting for & who I think will win are not necessarily the same. Sure I'd like to see a PAC-12 team in the CFP, & I think UTAH has a reasonable shot at winning the title, if they can beat the Ducks convincingly first, on the other hand, if the Ducks can beat UTAH, they will be rewarded a better bowl game, perhaps the Rose Bowl...so GO DUCKS!!!

I'm re-thinking my original predictions. I think Utah has to not only win, but BLOW OUT the Ducks in order to get in the CFB playoffs. Oklahoma's resume is better than Utah's, and if they take care of business tomorrow, I can see the powers that be picking the Sooners over the Utes.

Ducks win in a blowout.

A blowout of such proportions that the NCAA is compelled to institute a mercy rule for 2020.

Annoying that Oregon isn't wearing the green in the TV graphics.

Dunno why I'm surprised that, ONCE AGAIN, short and goal, DON'T give it to C H-L! It's just beyond stupid. Then, a gadget play on 3rd & goal?? Ridiculous....

The defense has shown UP so far! The total incoherence on offense, though, is just mind boggling to me. There was time to prepare for this game and this is what they came up with?
