Default PGA Championship

Okay armchair golfers, time for the next round of speculation and crazy predictions.

This course won't necessarily produce a win for the best golfer but for the most consistent off the T the first two days to stay in touch and the luckiest the final two. Just getting to the green in regulation the most often, should be enough to win. This one stat is what will separate the field.

If I were to pick a winner this early, it's going to be Woods. The man is dialed. The season so far has sort of leaned toward first timers and this tourney is no different. The door is really wide open to anyone who makes the cut. If Johnson can find the required accuracy off the T, he and Woods will duke it out.

what about that guy that bet Tiger would win the Masters, he put a chunk of money on Woods at a 47?/1 bet and collected $1.2 million bucks

I have no idea who to claim, there are a lot of names that are new to me, I want to see how day 1 goes.............

That is an extremely tough golf course. You're right, length and accuracy off the tee is going to win the tournament.

The best/longest drivers are Rory, Brooks, and Tiger (so far this year anyway).

Cptdarel: Some will dig a hole so deep the first day they'll need a ladder to get out. Just to hear the players talk about the course is enough to scare most anyone. None of them are talking about shooting a low score. If I heard DJ correctly, he said 2 under might win. Quite a contrast from last week with the winner @ 23 under.

I like so many of the players it matters not who wins as much as how tight the competition is. There are only a handful I don't pull for. If there ever was an underdog to root for it'd be Ryan Moore. I actually don't even know who is or isn't in the field.

The real race for Fed-X points starts now and players should up the tempo of play pretty soon if they want to compete but this tournament doesn't appear to be the one. The winner will walk away with 600 points so it could shake up the standings if those points go to the right person. But, there's a lot of golf left to play.

These 2 will probably duke it out. They seem to score consistent solid rounds at BPB.
Dustin Johnson
Rory McIlroy

Other picks I like:
Tony Finau
Jon Rahm

Tiger.....
Drama surrounding him.
I might count him out for a Sunday charge because of this.

Don't count out Snedeker or Bubba either.

Man couldn't be any worst than that course in Washington, what 4 years ago, you missed the green by 6 inches and the ball rolled 30-40 yards away.........

Sounds like Elkhorn G C up the Little North Santiam.
Think they went out of business though, from what I heard recently.
Miss the green by 12" and kiss it good bye. In a gulch full of brush.

It was Chambers Bay when Jordan Spieth won, every player was complaining, but hey I never played Chambers Bay, nor have I won....

I think Molinari stands a chance. He play's within himself and is pretty accurate and consistent player normally (minus Sunday at the masters). Ill be rooting for Tiger and Ricky as normal. Finau seems due for a big win. And sergio is still one of the better drivers of the golf ball, never know when he's gonna string some rounds together and keep his head in it. I'd like to watch but i'll be hunkered in a tent wishing it would stop raining, so i can go find a bear.

It is at Puget Sound PNW , HECK at 5 holes Wallace is at 3 under, not a tough course as thought.
Now Wallace is at 4 under 6th hole

I though Chambers Bay was great except for the greens which were horrendous.

They were interviewing someone when I walked by the TV yesterday, think it was Rose, and he said there was 30 guys who stood a chance to win. Was then asked if Woods was part of the 30 and he was. I actually think the number is quite a bit more than 30, like maybe 50. He also said there will always be someone who will shoot a six under on one day but the other days not even close.

So looking at the leader board looks like Koepka had an awesome round at 7 under.

Nice to see that Spieth is tied for 5th at 2 under

Of course it's only the first day bu much lower than expected

Put a fork in Tiger - he is done with 2 holes remaining.

Koepka is so calm and on fire. Gonna take some big mistakes on his part over the next 2 days to lose this one.

C'mon Scott!!!! Some good scores shot by many today, well a few anyhow.

With Woods out of the mix we should get to see more of the field, more focus on guys shooting good scores or making great shots..... Like it should be.

Well at least there was a little excitement towards the end. Best part is I won the pool I was in. Not quite the check Koepka is getting, but better than nothing.

I googled it. $1,980,000.

The median income in Oregon is $60,212 per year. The winner gets almost 33 years of median income. To play a game.

Incredible.

My golf game has been nil for about 15 years.
Still enjoy watching a good game though.

Got me fired up a bit for a couple of holes. Big Johnson coulda made it a real show. Nice to see Spieth as close as he was. Think he came away feeling pretty good.
