Re: 2019 odfw hunt draw results
How are youth able to collect 11-12 points needed for this hunt? So that would mean they passed hunter safety at 6 and got a point every year until they were 17? I'm confused.

there are special rules for youth and mentored hunts that allow someone to enter the drawing without having a hunter safety course behind you.

Mentored Youth Program
As an incentive to participate, youth will receive one mentored youth preference point for each year they register for the program. The maximum number the youth could receive is five points, if they registered annually from age 9-16. The mentored youth preference points will be “banked” and held in ODFW’s licensing system without an expiration date until the youth is ready to apply for a controlled hunt, even if it is after the youth turns 18. All banked points must be used at one time, towards one controlled hunt choice.

Re: 2019 odfw hunt draw results
Our group of 3 drew Sled Springs Archery Elk and found out my buddy who drew Wenaha two years ago (21 pts) that I went on the hunt with him drew again this year in the 25% pool. He's living good getting to hunt that place 2 out of 3 years. So this year could be a lot of fun in NE for us. My only problem is fitting in a trip to MT for archery elk also.

Good thing MT archery season goes past mid. Oct! My teenage son and dad also have SS archery tags this year and I will be going to MT after the OR season is done. I actually prefer MT archery in Oct. Yeah, it's different and not for the guys that are all about calling bulls in, but it can be incredible that time of year if you have a lot of tricks in your bag.

I know, I was crunching timeframes around this weekend but for once it might work out when Oregon's season ends a little early this year. I'll take off for MT on the 22nd at the latest and hunt the last week over there in Sept. If I whack something early in Oregon it just gives me more time in MT!!

To eliminate goat and sheep apps in order to increase draw odds.
