Ahhh, that's what a hampster looks like when it dies. I hear they make good cut-bait.

Mojo,

You must pay homage to the Hampster of Death.

Do not be ashamed because all your moose can do is drool.

If you and exhibit the proper humility, we may provide you grace.

Now I doubt that Zaq would waste a Drool on a smallish slimerocket like that. (We've been catching trout that size at C.J. Strike Reservoir lately.) I know a nice fish deserves a toast, but I thought Zaq preferred Jaeger...

Seven days to go, and not a bit of smack to be heard. I'm quite dissapointed.

Instead of fishing this weekend I committed an act of Karma enhancement. Got a buddy who's vacationing in a tropical (desert) destination (Air Force Base). His wife's horses and llamas have eaten their winter alotment of hay. I went an hauled a bunch (4 tons) over to their place and stacked it in a pole barn that's not quite made for that. Hope it pays off for me.

Dean, Those Packers aren't doing too well right now. Hope my Niners can pull one off tomorrow!

Hope your 49er's make a better showing tomorrow.

WELL.... You all can come over and fish the Non-Blown-Out Clearwater. Believe it or not, Our Rivers are still low. Fishing is good as well. I would really hate to win this thing by default.

No matter.

Team Stealth Dogs will be rivers away from Team Silent but Deadly anyway. We'll be in the river that has fish to be caught, not choking on the fumes!

If there is an west wind blowing though, those idahooligans may be in deep trouble!

Hog-
We'll never be able to smell Wiz and Mark, Potlatch takes care of "conditioning the air" in the Clearwater valley. It's not polution if it's making you money, right? Although the combination of Team SBD and Potlatch odors are probably enough to turn the stomach of a maggot on a festering gut pile.

Well Kids it looks like my zipperlip area on the Alsea is going to fall right into shape for Sat. AND uglygreen and Ragjr are going to accompny me to fight what we hope(know  ) will be many Steelhead. I only hope, at 480 pics my camera will have enough room for all the pictures Since we won the Sturgeon Challenge with 3 non ifishers, I invited the first two to answer to go on this trip of a lifetime as every fish in the Alsea has to go through this 4foot by 6 foot piece of water in order to go upstream. It ought to be illegal to fish here, but it is not so tune in on Sat night and readem and weep

Does any one know if they are going to have that steelhead challenge next weekend.

Normally, when we have a big event there is a smack talking thread with some real smack talk.

So far, I haven't seen anything so I thought maybe it was cancelled.....

I started the thread off in hopes that the true smack-talkers of iFish would step up and knock a few out of the ballpark. Heck, I even put a couple good ones down to set the tone for the rest. Instead what I have been witness to here sounds like the QA department in a squeeky toy factory. Embarrassing.

With no rain between last Sunday and this weekend, the rivers are going to be in pretty nice shape everywhere. Will there be fish to be caught? Most likely. Maybe not "summer run on the Cowlitz" numbers, but they'll be there.

I'll be catching steel. My team will be catching steel. The rest of you all...it's looking pretty grim, but not entirely hopeless. A few of you may bumble across a fish that, in the act of laughing at your presentation, accidentally snorts it in. And considering you'll be using a 15-50 boat rod, deep sea reel, and gator rope for a main line, you'll have at least a fighting chance of bringing that fish up to the boat on full plane as it skips across the water surface. Way to finesse that one in, Cletis.

So tell me, crackers. Is it going to hurt your feelings when someone who gets out fishing maybe a dozen times a year goes out there and puts on a clinic in master steelie spankery? Are you going to kick a can and mope because you're out there no less than three days a week, every week, and you couldn't touch a fish unless it was beached and rotting next to you? I hope not, because I wouldn't want the fishing tackle industry to take a huge financial hit when you quit buying your weekly supply of river bottom and tree branch decorations. People shouldn't lose jobs just because I applied a healthy layer of face on you at a silly steelie tourney.

Lastly, speaking of trees...Chrsitmas is over. Quit hanging your oversized Corkies in the tree branches. Those beach ball-looking things AREN'T festive.

Geek,
Your piddly effort at smack talk amuses me. My six-year-old niece is more intimidating, and has probably caught more fish than you. If you were able to put a whoopin' on the steelies, I'd bet my life that you'd go fishing more than a dozen times a year. I usually refrain from threads like this, as egos tend to get bruised, but I'll make an exception today. Also, be sure to remove the Safeway packaging and touch up the freezer burn before you submit any pictures this weekend. LOL

MadW: You are right, us good smack talkers are sitting on the sidelines.

If we started on you young kids, you'd be calling for your mamas to cuddle ya... then you'd probably be calling the child protective service asking them to protect ya....

The only exception would be birdhunter. He ran with the big dogs last year and held his own...now that's a young one you should write an article about...unless someone has written one already...

OH ya, would someone tell Zaq to stop posting pictures of old summer runs...

This board only want to see silver and chrome...

Crotch and Rot when are you going to talk some smack....now that you're over the hill your posts refect it .

An Geek, you missed an important rule....no body can start fishing until perfect drift decides where and when he is going to fish...this way you guys with the fast boats wont have to pull your anchors for a guy who sleeps in later than this old guy....

STZ 11, make sure you bring the long handled loopers so we wont have to reach into the water to cut anchor ropes....

Now bring on some real smack....

Giz....

Birdhunter - that is pretty funny you putting my face on your scrawny wet noodle frame. I thought I saw a thread hanging off the shirt for a second then I saw it was your arm. I cant believe you let coot take that picture of you.

I think I might have to fish a river this weekend I have never fished just to even the odds up for the people who think they know what they are doing. Good thing there arent any silvers in the river right now, or I can just see people posting pictures of silvers come Monday saying they just won a steelhead challenge. I am sure somebody will post a cutthroat and think they got a steelie I think geek is right, not a lot of quality smack on this thread. :depressed: Looks like a bunch of old women sitting around making a quilt gabbing about their men. cluck cluck cluck

Mr. smack talker Bernie, needs to put his teeth in (past 40 now you know) and at least put on a game face. I would have thought team geritol would have been Bernie, Giz and Fishbait. I would have thought they could have been sponsored metmucill.

Times are tough TFG. Some of these poor fellas are spent from the relentless lampooning of the Sturgeon Challenge(d).

Giz is right about Birdboy. He hung in there and did'nt miss a beat. When Springer smack starts he will be right in there like Sugar Ray Lennord. Only problem will be He will be up against the tyrant Mike Tyson's of this board. Probably be missing an ear from all the bantor heading his way.

Goodnight everybody, its been great.

Okay this slipped to page 3 after BOE stunk it up with his old fart comments. Roy stay home and make lemon snow cones ya lacky. That, I am sure you are qualified for. You might want to use the small dixie cups instead of the cones though. That way you wont have to stand on a phone book.

Speaking of 40, Come springer season we will see if the old fart whoops ya in the final tally. You better count on fishing every day BOE cause that is what its gonna take to double your score from last year. That would be 2 springers right? Just an idea for ya. Quit using Banana oil in that kicker of yours and you might actually get a springer.

As for Zig, I mean Giz, did you ever get that new rod holder mounted on the walker? You are the only guy I know that has a medicine cabinet on his boat and a crash cart in the fish box. BTW can you spare some Geritol?

AtWorkALot:

Yeah, if I caught fish as seldom as you I'd be at work a lot, too. And it's nice to hear that your niece catches a lot of fish, but don' t you think that it is about time for you to stop playing with the little kids and instead go fishing with people your own age? Or do they laugh when you insist that you need to take your blankie along with you when you fish?

Giz:

Please, stay on the sidelines. If you got into the fast lane of the smack talk you'd probably leave your blinker on the whole time anyway.

Okay, anyone else wanna step up to bat or do I have to go back through and pick over whatever is left of this carcass?

All right, could one of you fish hookin' individuals please post a picture of one of those Steel Headed Fish thingies? Us Idahooligans have never really seen one, and since the Challenge is just around the corner, you know, we want to be sure what to keep (or photograph).

Rumor has it that the fishing really stinks on the Clearwater. No not just because it's downwind from Mark and Mad Wiz, or the Potlatch plant in Lewiston. Seems the water cooled down and turned a funny shade of green. Jim called it Steelie Green or something... Hmmm.

Well, the cooler is loaded, (plenty of Moose Drool) Got gas (in the tank), and plenty of bait. Even got a new license and steelie tag. Got me new tags on the sled! Went out to Sportsmans Warehouse and bought some great big metal wiggly thingies, and a couple of plastic do-hickies that flop from side to side. I even got some of those floaty-spinnie-flashy widgets that go on your string, you know the ones. I hope the ol' Danielsons are sharp enough right out of the package to hang one of these slime launchers (I think that's what you guys call them).

Well...wish us luck...Born to Fish, Denali, the gang and I are all heading for the River!!!

K9 -

Sorry for the serious interlude for a moment, but there is no problem launching at Clackamette right now!

Strange as it seems, what happens is that when the Willamette backs up like it is now, it holds water at the mouth of the Clack back and creates a big lake effect. Right now there is literally no current at all.

Drove in there yesterday and saw that. There were 2 brand new Boice Jets there though (no doubt test runs as a result of the show). Sweet looking machines! They may be more suited to heavy water than fishing as some people claim, but they get to where they are goin in style!

One other note. 2 boats yesterday and one this morning anchored at the mouth, but wasting time it appeared. Quite a few fishermen at the blacktop.

Now, as far as the important stuff:

Between the gaseous extrusions out of both ends of the Moose Drool and Silent But Deadly teams, it is a wonder that the fish aren't already declared endangered. And we thought the Klamath kill was bad!

Just for sport, Team Stealth dogs has been doing some math. Steelhead are tough to get this year (unless your name is William), so we just figured the best method for all of you to use is as follows:

Take Buzz quality guys and factor division by pie of the average ratio of hookups to landings to determine what some better than average huksters on the 'Tucker would likely do! If they are only marginal divide the result by two and if they are beginners or general doughboys factor by zero which applies in all cases anyway...

For you math impaired this basically means that we will keep 6, most of you might hook two and the rest will go fishless yet again. Might just as well not bother going, unless you want to watch Bernie limb trees!

So Hog,
Since the limit in Idaho is 3 fish, if we limit, does that make us the winners automatically? Just curious (and the odds of us limiting are SLIM).

Excellent instruction Hogster, but there are a couplethings you missed on. First it is not "Pie", as you claim it to be. It is "Pi".
Pie is what you eat when you are hunting elk.
Pi is 3.14.. and a whole bunch of little numbers.

Other lessons for the day from "Garys Dictionary"

Maxima- High quality fishing line.

Stren- What you use to hang your mothers hummingbird feeders. Also for lead droppers in Tilly. What real sportsman use.Gives the fish a real chance to break free.

Moose Drool- What they watch in Idaho for fun, when the spuds are not growing.

Zipperlip- Any river, lake, stream, crick, or ocean I fish in.

Sandy river- Answer for any question starting with " Where are they catching fish?". It does not matter if you are in Europe, or they are talking about sharks. "Sandy River" is the correct answer.

Madwiz-Martha Stewart in drag.

Wiliam-One who fishes with TNT.

"I caught it on a pink worm"-Outright lie. Fish do not eat pink worms.

Catch and eat- One who remembers when the Deschutes ran westward and dumped into the ocean. Before there were any cascade mountains.

Fishing geek- Only real smack talker left.

Zipperlip-Frenchmans bar.

Sport jet- Boaters fantasy engine.

Mark and the dog- Targets for smack.

King- Crow tastes fine. just use any old duck recepie that includes a shingle, and viola! Yum Yum. hey kid, if memory serves( I am almost as old as Catch and glue my teeth in ) you were pretty confident a while back. stand up and take your shingle like a man.

Mark and the dog, who is hiding under the couch.

Well I cook crow the same way I cook duck. Get a nice cedar plank, put the bird on it, along with all the good spices. Cook till well done, not burned but just starting to. Toss the bird away and eat the cedar board

Well maybe my little spot is doing better then I thought

I thought we agreed to leave the "pie" in for C&E's benefit.

Another formula to use is as follows:

Take length of tales given of all fishers in the boat in inches times the girth of the heaviest ifisher on the team. Then divide the result by the combined ifish member numbers of the team added together. Smear a healthy amount of pie on the answer if you are from Washington, beer if from Idaho, or just pass gas if you are fishing the Sandy. The number, if less than 1, is the number of points your team will end up with. The number, if greater than one means you goofed in math yet again (unless you are a memeber of the Stealth dogs). Go back to class.

Wiz,
Actually, I'll probably C&R anything I should have the good fortune to hook. I might keep one if it looks pretty fresh, just for the smoker. I have to agree, Mark can dish it out. He doesn't wimper too loud either.

No need to be afraid of the dog. He just sheds a lot thats all. But Tanners Lizard, now that is something to never take your eyes off. It's a killer. You can see it in it's eyes. Killer lizard.

I would like to thank the acadamy, my direcreter, the producers of the smack, my wife who keeps me focused on the smack, Tanners Lizard, for inspiring me. And most of all, I would like to thank my fans. Without you none of this would have been possible.... You like me...You really like me...And thank you Big Sky Brewing, for keeping most of Idaho in a semi comatose state.

the dog would like to thank anyone who ever fed him tablefood. And he would appereciate it, if you fed him some more. Especially if it is covered in gravy. He really likes gravy.

This Just In............Tanner has a....... a... it is not a lizard, ........ it is a rat. Well thats ok. Everyone should have a pet. Even a rat.

Mark and the moviestar dog, who seems more popular than Ozzy.

O.K it is time for that smack to fly.

Hogmaster
I was talking to flatfish today and he said something about you, his dog and getting his Willie wet. I am not sure what he was talking about but I told him I think you too need to get off the river and get a room. I feal sorry for any hens you guys might get to bite. I hope there not hard mouthed.

Mojo

Your guys are from I' da' hoo so I will keep this real simple for you so you can keep up.

Dem aint no darn tatters, dem be steelies.Steelies are chrome bright not nasty red sides, red necked hick rainbows. You hicks go target dem red neck fish if you want but make sure you have you tennis shoes on because the government is all over Idaho and are on the lookout for a group of rednecks in orange prison jump suits, staking out the safeway seafood departments.

Flatfish

We all know the last time you caught a fish was at last years sportsman show.

Now if you were taking your wife fishing I might say you stand a chance but, oh wait, you are taking your wife, hog master. He was telling me how his Willie is so much bigger than yours and how small your Willie really is. He even said your Willie was covered in green grass because it hasn't been used in so long. I told him this is a fishing tournament not a I have a bigger Willie then you tournament but he was to busy laughing at you little green fuzzy Willie. Has your dog ever been on your little green fuzzy Willie? Come on, tell the truth.

skrimmy
You really don't want to get in to this again do you?

Flatfish,
I would not worry about Tanner's Lizard. It is Team Hamster of Death. The Hamster says "bring it on"
I am glad to see some of the smack picking up. The Hamster was bored

He thought he was goping to have to come to the party like this for all the sweet talking that was going on.

But to help those who are injured, we can offer help for you
But watch out for the Hamster. he'll be singing praises to the fish gods

The line is drawn
