Default Camping at Oregon State Parks to close

Camping at Oregon State Parks will be suspended on April 2nd.
It was announced this afternoon. Due to the Corona virus, and lack of personnel and volunteers to keep things clean and in repair.

Im not a fan, and personally think this is stoopid.

I camp a lot during the early spring and usually in places with no services to begin with, the only thing this pandemic changes in our routines is increasing hand washing.

I don't see how it is stupid. Pandemics aren't always convenient for your vacation plans. The state has limited resources right now.. Camping is a luxury. Still plenty of places to camp all over this state. Silly thing to complain about.

Saw that coming, & believe it's the right thing to do. At my wife's request, we already decided to cancel our annual spring fishing trip, cause it would be impossible to avoid the virus at the state parks facilities, at the grocery, tackle stores, & gas station(s) on the way, this is her one & only fishing fishing trip the past 2 years.

What or who is stoopid? Be a team player and don't be selfish.

I was thinking of taking my kids out (like tons of other Oregonians stuck home with the kids). Extra time off. Great weather. Spring time.

But, I completely understand. And I wouldn't want to be stuck out somewhere if me or one of the kids came down with the crud.

Still lots of camping places. Most of Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles.

Me, I just want to take the boat down to SF Bay and fish for halibut. But sounds like other than a local walk, I am banned!

Lol, if they try to make you stop camping, just tell them you aren't camping.. You're homeless.

Yes the governor and mayor have stated that no camps ,campers, or cars with people sleeping in them can be hassled or moved or cleared. Your golden where ever you plop down. Just speak softly look slightly unhinged and carry a big stick. No one bothers me. The , " Veteran medicated for your protection," sticker keeps them from knocking on my door with out back up.

The wife had us booked for 5 weekends from the first of april to the middle of may this year-- first time we have had it together-- at south beach but all are cancelled. NO PROBLEM, glad to take it in stride and do our part to try and beat this situation that we are ALL in. We will be starting more veggies and enjoying the sunshine while it is here.

Ya know, I spend well over 200 days a year in an RV, and I never stay at a campground or park. When I go places it is for the hunting/fishing I can access, not to socialize. LAST thing I need is other people around to p*ss me off, or vice versa. It's not a new thing.....even as kids the few times we stayed in campgrounds kept the family awake with noise and headlights, then others got upset when we got up an hour before dawn to go shoot coyotes, catch the dawn bite, whatever.

I too question the camping closure. I don't socialize while camping, not many people do. I don't have to use any facilities, get groceries delivered or pick up in the parking lot before I go. Pump my own diesel and pay by card without social interaction. I camp to avoid socialization. read a lot of books. What the heck would be the harm in me parking in a campground and paying kate an exhorbitant amount of money to do so.

The homeless thing sounds like a good idea.

Not everyone camps like you. Some people flock to towns and beaches, bombard playgrounds and facilities, and campers require park staff to maintain the grounds which creates more opportunity for contact.
