Bruce anchor
I have a 24 foot Hewescraft Op I’m thinking about a 16.5 Bruce style claw anchor.
Which do you Ifishers prefer stainless galvanized or other also what chain type do you prefer?
Also looking for recommendations for a anchor locker that works best it’s hot type of anchor.

Re: Bruce anchor
There was a lot of talk about Mantus anchors a few years ago.
You may be able to find all the things you are looking for through a search.
I know a buddy of mine just bought a 21' striper and I am trying to talk him into a 16 lb shovel style anchor instead of the old rocking horse standby.
Good luck!

Re: Bruce anchor
It all depends on the bottom where you plan to anchor.
The 10KG/22LB will hold in the lower river sand and silt for the most part.

Re: Bruce anchor
Mostly anchoring here in the central Oregon lakes but spend a lot of time crossing the bar in Newport need something to throw out in case of an emergency that will keep me off the beach or jetty.

Re: Bruce anchor
The 13 lb Mantus holds my 24 foot pilot house without slipping in the lower river. I had a 22lb Bruce prior to the mantus and I would slide at times. Almost 1/2 the weight and more holding or digging in hold Im sold on the Mantus.

Re: Bruce anchor
The best research you can do on anchors and holding is thru the sailboat cruiser forums. The consensus seems to be that the mantus is the baby to have.

I have a 13 lb mantis on my 20 foot forward helm Willie 22.6 with offshore platform holds well in the Columbia and a lot easier to deal with. You may need a larger size. Very happy with it and it fits in my Lee Lock system .

Hey Reddog,
Any chance you could post a pick of your anchor in the Lee Lock. I am thinking of putting a Mantus or Bruce on my boat. I already have a Lee Lock. Just wanted to see one with the anchor in it.

Re: Bruce anchor
in rough water a sharp pointed anchor can be a big liability if not in a nest and launched from it.
