Default Custom Stainless Steel Cleaning Station Fabracators?

We are looking to plan a custom fish cleaning station. We are trying to locate a fabracator. I remember there was a vendor at on of the past coventions at Newport but I can't remember who it was. Anyone know who this was or know an ifisher that does this?

Andy.

Andy, I don't remember who does custom SS fish cleaning stations, but I talked to the welder that does things on my boat for me. He told me I didn't want to know how much a SS table would cost me, SS is very expensive, just the materials. I was going to have him cut a large piece and put a couple of bends in it, but he said it would be too expensive.

So I went to our local scrap metal place - several times - and found a SS table top that I bought for $51 and built a sturdy wooden table under it. I haven't used it to clean tuna yet, but it's large enough for 3 of us to work on it. I'm happy with it, like it better than the cleaning station in Newport for cleaning salmon. So I'm suggesting you visit the scrap metal places anywhere near you, tell them what you're looking for, they may be willing to call you when they get something like you want. A custom SS table would be great, but my budget wouldn't let me get one made. I hope your budget will let you get one, it would sure be nice to have a custom cleaning table! Maybe your welding skills will let you do some or all of the work to make it.

Another option is a large sheet of the material used to make cutting boards, I don't remember the name of the material. It's not cheap either, but it is available in 4 ft by 8 ft, maybe even larger and they will cut it to size.

Good luck, it's nmice to be able to clean fish at home.

Another good place to look for stainless tables is places that sell used resturaunt equiptment. Roses is the name of one of them. If you are in the metro area there are quite a few auctions that sell this stuff and that is a good bet also.

If you can find a deal like Ron is talking about you need to jump on it.

We have propane at our place so our idea was to build a station with three burners for crab cooking/canning with sides panels for the wind. Two or three sinks with work benches on each side and a over head spray nozzle like in commercial kitchens. We want to install a massorator. I would like it all sealed or welded at the seams for easy clean up. Also some cabinets for storage. This will be under a lean-to that we are planing for our new shop. Any other thoughts on what I might want? I'll only get one shot at this so I want to think it through and set it up right.

Andy.

I wouldn't go all stainless. It would be more cost effective to have pressure treated lumber frame and a starboard plastic counter. That is what we did for ours. If you can having hotwater from your house plumbed in is a nice feature too.
I'll try to post some pictures of what we did.

Sounds like it will be nice!

I have a big 3 compartment sink L- shaped table with macerator hook up....all stainless steel. Had to cut it in two, to get it out of a building but can be welded back together or used as two seperate pieces,,,It has the over head spray rinse fixture and would make of hell of a fish cleaning station...pm me if you want to pics....

I'd start with finding a used sink/table and build your cleaning station around that.

Here is ours:

We found the table on Craigslist. It would be nice to have plumbing for it, but it works great. The crab cooker is a 162 quart pot we found online and plumbed with a natural gas burner. I built the brick house for it (doesn't look very good, but fully functional).

This was just posted in the classifieds. It would make a great start - even has a hole for the macerator. With the high sides though, it wouldn't be ideal for filleting a salmon but would work good for carking tuna or cleaning crab.

Andy PM Ragnar, that is where I would start. You can get screaming deals on restaurant stuff that is being salvaged from closed restaurants, I paid $50 for my 4x4 stainless lab table. You might also PM Pearl he is putting a cleaning station in at his beach house.

If need a place that does great stainless work, my father in-law is pretty skilled. Northwest Metal Products in Forest Grove. Ask for John. He's deer hunting right now, but should be in next week.

Samson Sports, 4325 NW Lake Rd, Camas, WA 98607, 360-833-2507.
I bought their original one that they showed at Newport. I really like it as it breaks down easy and is very portable and stowes away in the belly of my 5th wheel.
