Default Catching some smallies!

Went fishing this weekend with some friends.

Bank fishing at its best! All pretty much dinks, but plenty of action!

Even got a chance to try out my 3:16 swim baits. The action is killer but no fish wanted to volunteer to be my first swim bait fish.

I only threw the shad baby wake for about 30 minutes. I was mixing up retrieve techniques. I first tried casting, waiting for all the ripples to disappear then jerk for a couple of cranks and pause. I didn't notice any followers so I tried using a steady retrieve. The bait swims like a dying fish...its addicting just making the bait dance. I gave up after 30 minutes and switched back to using grubs.

I'll keep trying the swim bait thing and give a report as soon as I can land a fish on one!

Nice fish bud, glad to see you were able to hook into some fish at that spot. You have caught a lot of fish since your "My First Smallmouth" post, careful, its probably going to turn into an addiction soon. But from the look of all that gear you have recently purchased, I would say your past that point!!

Yeah I'd say I'm well past the addiction phase. I can't seem to ever leave Sportsman Warehouse without dropping any less than $20-30.

Looking at my credit card bills all you see are entries from tackle stores.

Matt's not helping either.....he keeps pointing out good baits to try. My tackle box is full of plastics now. Some that I haven't even tried.

My wife is getting into it also. She likes to pick out the pretty bait colors most which haven't produced any fish. Then she nags on me to take her to catch some Largemouth. She almost had one near Cook Park but she failed to set the hook. She is still in the lead this summer for the number of fish caught!

Haha Jade, now you really have caught a severe case of the sickness. Only remedy is to buy all the swimbaits you can afford and a full week of Clear Lake fishing!
