Default Blood in the boat

I'm trying to avoid studying so I thought I'd drop more boat and fish pictures on Ifish.

Got the bay boat in July and spent a few weeks tweaking it to my liking.

Finally got it out in August and it was slow going. South Puget Sound was not exactly on fire this year. Went about 6 times over three weeks with ZERO fish to show for it.

The day I finally broke the ice, started as a day I probably should have stayed home. It was a crazy weather morning. The thunderstorms were rolling through Olympia and a sane man would have put the boat back on the trailer. Lightning was lighting up the morning sky and I had my phone out and tuned to the radar app. I FELT like I might be just outside the actual storm area. I watch radar for a living, so my guess is better than average. BUT. Though right, I should not have been there. Just not safe.

That said, I stayed out and hit a couple of fish. First to the boat was a nice mid teener hen.

.

This pic doesn't do the weather justice. Luckily the lightning was south of me, moving east north east. This view is looking almost due south. In the dark, as I ran out to the spot, I was really questioning my sanity. The sheet lightning was really spectacular.

.

Blood ON the boat. How did I get it out there???????

How messy the boat is while working on it is proportional to the headache you get WHILE working on it.

.

Did get out to bouy 10 for silvers. Not hot but at least I got fish.

.

Other, closer to home fisheries heated up and I found success. This was a 20 minutes trip.

I love having the bleed box in the transom.

.

.

I can tell it's Fall when the bottom of the boat is covered in helicopters ...........

.

.

Of course, when THIS happens, the bays empty.

Have to chase the runs up river now. Next thread will be BLOOD IN THE SLED

.

Nice break in for your new bay boat.
The blood on the outside of the boat is from those over sized salmon
that are too wide to fit in there.
