Default Need help with Suzuki DF140.

Anyone here good with these motors? Can anyone recommend a shop that could help me out?

My motor won't start and I've used the service manual to troubleshoot down to either the IAC valve or the ECM.

My 2-stroke suzuki had an ECU problem. If it didn't beep, it wouldn't start. Does your's beep? Might help narrow it down.

I know this sounds silly but did you check the emergency kill switch? I have the same engine. Wouldn't start. Found the kill switch clip pulled out. Put it back in and miracle of miracles, it started.

Check the plug on the back of the throttle/ shifter... unplug and plug it back in... mine was loose and we were dead in the water and used the kicker to get back!!!

Don't they have to have the famous white wire hooked up. Do a search, could be corroded, blew a fuse etc.

I guess I should have said that it will start but only if I give it a little throttle. Then it runs really rough for a minute before it shuts down.

Another thing to consider is a fuel problem. Now that you mention the rough running and then it dies when you try to open it up. Mine did the same thing and it turned out to be an issue with the high pressure fuel pump that is located behind the air intake housing. Bad gas from last year caused corrosion and particles in gas line. This caused clogging of the fuel supply from the low pressure pump to the high pressure pump which caused low or no fuel to the injectors. Motor ran fine at idle but then died when throttle applied.

Problem diagnosed and solved by Suzuki dealer in Eugene.

My 07 DF140 has gone through multiple ignition coils.
Runs very rough when one goes bad.

I doubt there is anything so unique about a Suzuki that any good marine mechanic (or even a motorcycle mechanic) could not work on it. Try a local marine repair shop.

I would say if you can eliminate that it is a fuel problem (clogged filters, water in fuel, bad fuel pump, bad injectors, dirty carburetor, etc) then you need someone who can check the ignition system.

It's an 02. It never threw a code until I used the choke lever to get it to start. After that it started throwing a 2-2 code. I tested the throttle valve position sensor and it tested good but I can't get the code to clear.

I have a 1999 DT140 that I had some issues with. I have the repair manual for it. It covers up to 2003 motors I think.
My issue was an electric fuel pump. Took it to a Suzuki dealer in Milwaukee with a bad experience.
If you might need the manual, let me know. Mine is a fuel injected and oil injected DT140 2 stroke.
