Default Paint or Vinyl

Today I will take possession of a "New to Me" boat.
2014 21' Alumaweld SuperVee.
I'm not thrilled with it's exterior color. The previous owner had it painted, possibly ordered from Alumaweld.
I am considering either having a vinyl wrap which I did to my last boat, or paint.
What considerations should I look at between the two?

Vinyl is cheaper.

If you are fussy about appearance, you can redo vinyl every so often.

I think paint wears better, but it's spendy to repaint.

Even though I'm a "BELEIVER" I want something less loud and that would be MINE.
To answer any questions that is a 150 four stroke, 9.9.
More boat than I've ever owned.

I’ve got some old house paint I could roll onto it for you, but I don’t work cheap. Rattle can accents cost more of course.

Glad to hear you’re finally moving forward Gary with the retirement boat of your dreams. I’ll be buying a non-res OR license so I can hit the Willamette again. I’d love to sit on your shelf up by Sellwood in that thing...

Man, that's a beauty and quite unique. I'm not sure I've ever seen a sled that color. Its your money, your taste, and your boat, but if that were my boat, I'd spend the painting or wrapping money on some fishy accessories.

I personally like that color scheme. It is easy for other boats to see and increases safety for all on the water. I would like to see a high vis paint scheme mandatory for all new production boats.

Is the condition of the paint as nice as it looks in the pics? I'd take an eraser wheel to the stripes down the sides. Then I'd head over to the Couve and let Paul Comeau lay some lines and designs on it. He could really make that boat pop. Nice boat!

I believe your stripe down the middle is vinyl. Rubber eraser wheels, purchased at an autobody supply store will take it right off along with the Alumaweld stickers , if you don't like them.

Paul Comeau is one of the best pinstripers in this area. He could lay some lines and designs on that boat and really make it stand out. Don't give up on the Orange so quickly. Good luck with your new boat.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. That boat is ugly as sin and has a picture of a rodent near the bow. No fish in its right mind would eat bait from a boat like that. Strip and go with an entirely new color scheme, maybe something like, well, green and yellow.

Seriously, congrats on the new boat. So much you can do with a set up like that. Have fun! Life is short.

Nice looking sled!

My wrap has held up great for 5 years now, only complaint have (not the wraps fault) but wish I had the guards put on on the transom corners, the wrap is wearing right there from living on the dock in the fall, not sure if paint would have held better in that portion but again, not the wraps fault

Smart Move on choosing Coho Designs... I suspect you got a great buy just because of the current color . Congrats on the retirement Garry. There's enough room on the new barge for Garry's guided ventures.

Very happy for you! Have enjoyed your good an also snarky posts for years. Looks like a great ride for your area of the Willamette and big enough to join us down river

Albeit we could always take it down-to New Orleans join my wife’s cousins for Madrid Gras and throw beads out of it! Perfect color and room for six throwers.

Good luck with the new boat, Gary I'd fish it the way it is, maybe underwater it looks like a big prawn and the fish will want to get close to sniff it.

All joking aside, come spring, we'll see you, o wait, All joking aside I look forward to seeing you and your new boat. be safe Grant.

Nice looking boat!

Be thankful it doesn't have the Alumaweld standard issue "clown puke" graphics down the side.

If you really decide to change it, vinyl all the way. Tons of choices of color and thickness. The best part is you won't cry if you bugger it a little.

I agree with the work with what you have idea, added accents can really make a boat pop.
Take the money you were going to spend on changing the color and spend it on a bow mount electric trolling motor.
Also SS props are cool until you hit something, instead of $150 at Ampro, it will be a new crank, just sayin.

I agree 100%

Stainless is expensive when (Not if) you hit something.

150hp prop on a 21' sled is more power than you need.

Hole shot and no flex in prop blades sounds good in NASCAR engineering concept speak. In reality, a 150 with an aluminum prop will throw your dudes out of their seats if you grab a big handful of throttle coming out of the hole.
