If you guys like old street rods the Street Rod Nationals were in Louisville, Ky this past weekend. I saw thousands of fine looking cars and trucks. They have been coming there for the last 10 years or more. Everyone of you have fine looking rides!

Just got it back from putting in a new rear main seal and a new 750 cfm carb! Runs great!

The guy in the drivers seat is my nephew (sea monkeys on this forum) and he passed away in December. I was helping him with his restoration and now I will finish it for him. It has a LS-2 motor and 6 speed trans. Every nut and bolt has been taken off and repainted, replaced and restored. Still needs to be put back together, new top, windows. Here is before and after photos.

It’s a 1969 440 Six pack

Long story short.
My dad and I restored a Six pack super bee while I was in high school. Than sold it while I was in college
Dad now has Alzheimer’s and he’s been bugging the crap out of me wondering where it went. So after a year of tracking I found it in Iowa and bought it. It’s racked up up a whopping 1300 miles since 1998.

Schweet!

I don't see a kickdown linkage rod coming off the center carb, so I take it it's a 4sp,... Pistol grip shifter too?

Ya 4spd. Dana 60 4.10s. Pistol grip came in 1970, so this has the correct wood grain ball

It was nothing more than a car for people to make money on the last 20 years. So it just sat in collections
I am going to race it again

My old man recently got a 65 Malibu SS. It’s a factory SS, but has had work done over the years. 283 with edelbrock high rise manifold and carb, T350 trans, disc brakes. Interior was completely redone to factory OEM. Even has the original SS hubcaps.

My all time favorite Muscle Car, back in 73 my High School math teacher's son was in Collage and had that car. He died for some reason, IDK. Afterwards, the teacher would drive that car to my school everyday with a for sale sign in the window. Man, how I would work my parents about buying that car for me. I don't remember the price, but it really wasn't that much, and gas was around .50 cents a gal,,,gregg

One of my favorite model cars. Back in 1972 I bought a 1967 Vette convertible from the original owner. Car had just 11,000 miles on it. Owner decided it was just to much car for him. A numbers matching, 427 tri power, 4 speed. Car was in perfect, showroom condition. This will blow you away. I paid $2800.00 for it. These days, just this motor option is a $75,000.00 dollar add on. I had the car for 8 years, put 10,000 miles on it. Here is the sad part. At the time I could not afford 2 cars. I had to SELL it because family on the way. I am still crying. I needed Lotsa medication (beer) during this traumatic time. I sold it for $10,000.00. Now these cars are going for $250,000.00 and up. I know there are many others out there that have similar stories.

I forget what I paid for the '69 Z-28 but I might have just traded the Roadrunner for it? Sold the Z for $1500. Think I got $500 out of the '55 Nomad. Money in the bank today.

Hi Timber Tech: This car is a factory kit car from the Shelby factory in Arizona. Carroll Shelby died in 2012 and I do not know if the factory is still open or not.

One thing I did not plan on when I built this car is the attention it would draw. I can not go to a gas station to fuel because it will take me 1 -2 hours to get out of there. People are drawn like a magnet to these cars, they want photos, information etc. I have a 50 gallon gas barrel with a electric pump at home and I fuel at home. Do not get me wrong, I do mind giving out info etc., but it gets overwhelming.

I don't have a cool car, but I have to laugh these days. I moved a couple weeks ago to a 55+ community. The neighborhood I left was over-run with young men and their spoilered imports that race around sounding like industrial sewing machines rather than cars. Real cars. The new neighborhood is full of nice old muscle cars that have that rumble that starts in your chest and you can feel more than hear. So much better than sewing machines.

You are so correct about the imports. I chuckle as I see and hear them. I refer to them as $500.00 cars with a $1500.00 muffler. Great comment on the muscle cars, "They have that rumble, that starts in your chest and you can feel more than you hear". Love it.

Many imports sound like they have a 3 pound Maxwell coffee can tied on for a muffler

Rice Rockets is an old term we used. Still applies. Another term often used, there is no substitute for cubic inches.

One problem with lots of cubic inches is feeding them. It takes special heads, manifolds and cams to get enough air in the cylinder at top rpm to get maximum hp per cubic inch. A lot of large engines produce a lot of torque but don't rev worth a hoot. Using a small block Chevy as an example. With stock or slightly modified heads, 327 ci is the practical limit. I never warmed up to the 350 in any stock or slightly modified form because it never appeared to perform the way the smaller engines did. Lots of horse power claims out there but they didn't add up to me.

One Chevy small block that always intrigued me was the 307. 283 bore, 327 stroke.... or there abouts. Those internal dimensions spell performance to me. I had one in a Chevelle wagon but never fiddled with it.

Owned since I was 18, 56 Chev Nomad. Turned every nut and bolt myself.
6-71 Blown 350, ZF-6 speed manual with 50% overdrive, 9" Dutchman 4.10 rear end, disk brakes.
Powershifting it is freaking hairy!

In process, while it was on the rotisserie:

One of my favorite shots, while I was assembling the engine. The serpentine belt system was a head scratcher:

Turbo Diesel drivetrain in the rear with a an electric drivetrain in the front (through the road hybrid). The chassis and body are made from carbon fiber and weighs ~2k lbs. wet.

The car is over 20 years old, but when new it was cabale of ~100mpg GGE and performance figure similar or better than a Tesla Model S P120D.

It sat for a really long time before I wound up with it, so it needs quite a bit of work to get it back on the road.

That brings back memories. My brother had a 68 Coronet RT 440 6 pack, Muncie with Hurst linkage, RAM air etc. Light em up on all four woth low profile tire. Used to street race on Van Nuys Blvd. I got to drive it too.
