Default Surgical gloves, do you wear them?

I have seen a few guides wearing surgical gloves so I thought I would give them a try. We all know scent is very important when fishing, right Marie? Yesterday on the Wilson between 50 or so driftboats we had pretty good luck fishing eggs and shrimp and wearing gloves. Not only do they keep the human scent off the bait they help keep your hands warm and clean. Do any of you wear them? I think it really helps. Maybe someone should sell scented gloves!

the guides i've used and talked to don't wear them because of human scent but because they handle bait so much it takes a toll on there hands

I wear surgical gloves frequently when I fish eggs. But, this is because the Pro-cure(sodium sulfite) does nasty things to my hands when frequently emersed in egg juice. Break out in dry skin and bumpy bumps.

I do have several very serious fishin' buds who ALWAYS wear S Gs when handling bait and terminal tackle. They tell me it is very important scent-wise.

I just protect my hands. Kinda a dainty fella for 6'3 & 240.

Rags,

I've used them while sturgeon fishing, but mainly to keep my hands clean. Didn't really notice any difference, but then I usually hose down my bait pretty good with WD40 anyway. They do keep your hands warm, but I sure hate that snapping sound when putting them on! Reminds me too much of the doctor's office each year.

This morning i wore some surgical gloves, I thought it would be better if i wore them to form the Jimmy Dean sausage into patties.....That way i would not get shrimp pee pee on breakfast. Anyway, There has been SO many days that i have caught fish without thinking what was on my hands i that i'm not so sure that it's effective to wear them, BUT! It's sure nice to come home and not have that stank on your hands

I wear gloves most all the time when fishing, both to keep my scent off the bait and to keep my hands from falling to peices. Borax. pro cure, salt brine in the herrring and dish soap all eat my hands up.

I feel scent is very important, clean hands and gear will catch you more fish. I feel it is better to have clean stuff than to try and cover up bad smells with scents and oils. I use the scents and oils to enfance the bait.

All in all being as anal as I am about the scent on my gear doesn't heart even if it doesn't matter so I will keep on doing it.
