Default No. No April Fool This Year.

I keep getting notes asking "where is your April 1 post"?

Uh....obviously, we have this public health crisis happening. So I think it would be in bad taste to joke around. This is affecting all of us, and some people worse than others.

Hopefully, we all get through this and can get back on the water. Just realize that we may be impacted in various ways, for quite some time. Something being discussed right now, are changes to the rules for handling fish as they are being caught. There could be a requirement to have the angler be the only one to touch / handle the fish he catches, and keep that angler's fish separate (i.e. bagged on the boat). So much for splitting the catch equally, or having one guy fillet all the fish while the other guy cleans the boat.

I have a November San Diego trip planned, and just hope it will be a 'go' and without undo risk.

Good luck to all of us!

If it's a big fish can someone else hold the bag?

The April fool was in the local paper and not a good fool. The charter boat fleet will have a tough year as one skipper put it "being 73 with diabetes its going to impossible to maintain the social distance on the boat so I'm not really thinking about going out with a load of people even if the fishing opens up."

If you're willing to fish with other people, what does it matter who touches the fish. Put on some gloves if you're worried.

You got my number, Ron. I'm the bag man. So you put your fish in, wipe the bag down with a Clorox wipe and then zip tie it bag to your belt.

Mark, have you heard how the boats down in S.D. are going to handle this whole thing? I am on a late October trip on Excel. Wondering how they will handle down payment? Is the whole mess refundable if there is a problem or do you need trip insurance? Any word from them yet?

You normally go on the Shogun right?

So, now is isn't "pc" to make jokes??? Just act sad & depressed? How does that help anyone?
When we were surrounded by much worse in Vietnam...humor kept us going. Of course back then we were ignorant about the rules of pc.
Have a nice day, but please don't smile.

I think the fact that we're all in our pajamas talking about a gay redneck tiger breeder and hoarding toilet paper is joke enough.

I have already had one trip at the end of April with the Osunas on No Tuna, No Chinga cancelled. At least we will be able to reschedule at a later date. I hope this mess is cleared up by the end of September for my 8 day on the Intrepid. Not getting to LR fish this year would suck!!!

Just talked to a So Cal long range buddy who had a Puerto Vallarta trip planned for May 1. Probably won’t happen.

I’ve got a 3rd week of July trip planned for Cedros Island. I’m hopeful.

I’ve got an October 3 day and November 10 day planned. I think those should happen.

Lighten up fellas. Maybe read the original post again and see if there’s not actually an April fools joke in there after all.

Mark got me good last year. So I was ready this time

Not a joking time for sure, however laughter is still healthy, just keep the jokes clean/in good taste, something I need to work on myself, as it's really not a good time for political jokes, rubbing it in, or even I told you so type stuff.

We'd best keep some sense of humor, for the times they are a changing.
And it's pretty darn difficult to foresee what the changes will be, but I'm personally convinced that almost everything in society will be different and the magnitude of the changes may be huge.
We have little choice, we gotta deal with it and we will, hopefully with some humor, grace, sharing, and concern for others.

Right on, Ron. And you need to keep that plastic bag zip tied to your belt until you get home. Cleaning shack is closed for the duration. Clean them at home.

The coronavirus humor has already started.

Google "donut and a roll of toilet paper".

I am sure there is much more to come.

Default No. No April Fool This Year.

Need to do our best to be sensitive to others, while also trying to keep our senses of humor about us.

I can make fun of almost anything, certainly including myself. I’ve been doing my best to keep it in check for a few weeks now...

I know enough with the jokes now get out some toilet paper and pay the check and let’s get out of here. Mrk don’t worry about the plastic bags on the long range trip it’s going to be a lot harder to climb down into that kayak so you can fish without being next to anybody on the rail. Liable to be quite exhausting fighting that big fish while paddling the kayak wearing a space suit

I have often said man of the future will live in a warehouse in a bubble have a big wide butt and little tiny short arms to run the computer keyboard. The empty bubble is the one a Germ got into. apparently I may have not been too far off

Kayak is looking like a really good choice these days, launch from the beach, all by yourself, good way to get some exercise too.

That can't be a pretty sight, maybe even an indecent exposure violation, kinda like you with your shirt off.

Will do thanks, you take care too. Ms retaliate had a combat shopping experience yesterday, & TP was high on everybody's list, she showed up 10 min early for the over 60 time slot, was first in line, store opened it's doors, & many rushed for the TP, one guy tried to take her 10 roll pack, she managed to wrestle it back, than in line a lady several people back kept coughing without even trying to cover it, everybody was telling her to go home, one guy even threatened her, my wife had on a mask, & gloves as did others, most did not, brutal day shopping.

Buddy of mine was shopping for groceries in an un-named coastal town. He described a fellow with a shopping cart full of TP looking like someone who modeled for Gary Larson Far Side cartoons. He asked the guy, "Buddy, are you real sick or something? That's a lot of TP." The guy just smirked and said he was stocking up. My friend told him he could save a lot of TP with one easy trick. The guy took the bait, and asked how. When he heard, "Use both sides of the paper. It'll go much further that way", the 'deer in the headlights' look was apparently priceless. I can imagine it clearly, having met a few people who can't plan beyond the length of their arm. Stay safe ya'll, re-rig tackle while this blows over.
