Default Wood Stripping

Need kitchen cabinet doors professionally stripped. Want to work off actual recommendations not go at it blind and pick the wrong company. These are very nice cabinets, all clear Douglas Fir so need someone who knows their stuff. Appreciate any help I can get.

Might I suggest The Dolphin 2 for all your stripping needs.

Been about 6 years since the last time, but used Houck's in Portland for 100-year-old fir doors on 2 different houses. Did a great job. Cold dip so didn't affect glue and got most of the paint. Finished them with shellac

The strippers tend to be toothless, you'll want something with more bite, like a dipper.
I used a guy in Sellwood years ago, then switched to a guy on N Lombard, both big dip tanks, can't remember the name of either.

Google search: Timby's Dip Strip (N Pdx)
Houcks's Process (SE Pdx)

Default Wood Stripping

I know a kid, about 30. He knows his stuff. I’ll see if he’s interested. Just stripping? No finishing? Strictly doors? Maybe more? How many doors/how many pieces? His shop is in Kalama.

Harvey we had our kitchen cabinets stripped and restained in July 2018 and used The Wood Doctor. Loren and his team did a great job and was great to work with. We had four companies bid the job with prices all over the map with these guys being in the middle. We chose them because we felt they listened better to what we wanted and gave the best advice.

If you need them resurfaced other firms might be better. If you want them stripped and restained I would not hesitate to use them again.

You probably know already what you want to do but I've followed this gal that paints cabinets. Does some nice work. Google
K’tique Redesign, Boring OR.

I used to own Ed Bell & Son Paint removal/NW Paint Preparation.

If you just need doors stripped and can take them off, we used to refer those jobs to a dipper like Houcks.

If you need the actual cabinets stripped, we could come in the house and do it.

Depending on layers of paint, it's a two part process. First, we carefully heat the paint with propane torches, and carefully remove as much as will safely come off. Next, we use Jasco premium paint remover and steel wool to get rid of left over paint residue and down to clear wood.

Doing just the lower doors, drawers and fronts for the time being. Finish is fine on the uppers but if it doesn't match, will do the whole kitchen. 8 doors, 8 drawers at this point. I don't know what the cabinet maker put on for finish but it's flaking off in places and shows plain old wear in others from fingernails and such. I told 'em I wanted Polyurethane but they put some other crap on. Should have ordered the cabinets unfinished and done them myself. Live and learn.

Thanks for all the help.
