Default Willamette Sturgeon .Hi water?

Was curious to know if any of you die hard Sturgeon fishermen and woman. Have any thoughts about the river level of 13 feet on opening day. I am just curious as to how your tactics might change and locations ect. Any information or chat about this would be nice See you out on the water.

I looked at NOAA. I do not see a 13' level. Am I reading it wrong?

That reading was in Salem. Portland harbor shows only a modest rise.

Hit the bank and kick back and watch the boats dodge dead heads 1/2 the fun for me is launching 8 oz from the big pole w/ the bait caster tons of bank spots on the willy that produce in high water. I think the sturgon feed alot as debries come down the river. Hopfully this high water will keep the slaughter down long enough to have more than a 4 day season cause I cant fish till next weekend

I think the Sturgeon bite better on a high, chocolate, river. The river churns up debris and food, so the fish actually are on the feed when it happens.

My absolute favorite time to fish the Willamatte is when it's really high and muddy! I fished it the day after the recent flood and it was super hot fishing! We caught and released around 50 or so Sturgeon!

The only down side is dabree..You have to really pay attention when cruising, there are many logs submerged floating down, they we eat your boat up! Like what someone said above, have a sharp knife ready at all times!

It will be deadly out there and full of treachor... I would suggest staying home if you dont know how to chop wood, swim in cold water with hip boots on, wrestle anacondas, tie a bimini twist or preform open heart surgery with a butter knife and a BB gun!

Sounds like there is going to be some people out there for the opener! Buddy is trying to locate some sand shrimp and everywhere he has gone or called is sold out! Lets hope Sand Shrimp is not the hot ticket!

Then they'd be biting now. I looked at it about 1/2 hr ago (across from T4) and it was definitely mocha under the floodlights.
There was a couple boats anchored there this afternoon, and I didn't see any debris to speak of. That could change real soon, though.

Last Fri the hot ticket was sand shrimp! Dicks as expensive as they are had several dozen containers left. They were also biting on anchovies and smelt so chances will be good no matter what you bring. I am taking the complete package just incase(smelt, squid, sand shrimp, anchovies, pickled and not pickled) what the heck you never know what they want the most.
