The Morman Cricket name come's from the Mormans of Idaho and the 1848,Miracle of the Gulls". Seem's the Mormans were losing their crops to them and Gulls moved in and ate them, saving the crops.
I found it interesting, hope some more here do too.
The pikeminow anglers mid-river and on the Snake catch plenty of channel cats while using mormon crickets. In fact, catfish and pikeminnow are about the only fish who really like them, so it limits your by-catch of peamouth, bass and sturgeon.
Nasty critters who will eat each other if you do not put food in the cricket cage. Spit black crud and bite! But they do catch fish! The #1 Pikeminnow bait!
