Default Willy smallmouth

My dad is visiting and wants to do easy fishing local tomorrow.

Anything happening with smallmouth bass on the Willamette this time of year? Late October water temp mid-upper 50's, might the fish be near shore chomping before cold weather sets in? or not so much? Was thinking Mary S. Young Park, mouth of Clackamas, Rock Island toward Canby, but I don't know.

Last time I went out scored zero, but it was raining. Its kinda hit and miss with me - some times I get a couple nice picture takers, sometimes get skunked. Can't seem to figure out the seasonal tricks quite yet.

Suggestions, thanks.

I generally catch more smallies on hot & sunny days. I have had the best luck casting small spinners or texas rigged 4 inch senko. Can I recommend sturgeon fishing? You probably have a better chance of catching a sturgeon this time if year. Good luck!
