Default 46 keeper sized Crappie from Silver Lake this weekend!

  • Like l was saying in several earlier posts, the bigger Crappie move into the canals later in the fall! Well they have moved in and lots of them. the biggest key to catching bigger crappie right now is to fish at first light! With the rain the last two days the bite has slowed a bit, l got 300 to 400 fish the last two days. Today l got 10 keepers in 20 minutes. the overall size of the crappie are the biggest l have seen for Streeters canal and this time of year in over 17 years! and l have never seen as many crappie over nine inches as l have seen this year. Lt looks like the crappie limit is starting to show positive results!!!!!!!! with a few more years we could really see some great fishing. this fall l have landed over 2,000 crappie and around 80 keepers! I'm pushing in my chips and saying let it ride!

Pictures?

I know someone who said they got a limit of keepers the other day. Said he was putting back 9" and 10" to keep 12".

He didn't have any pictures, so I don't know what to think.

Drive up and try or not??

I see no reason why Roger couldn't sometime make a run at the all-time Guinness Book of World Record for most fish caught in 24 hours, by this guy fishing Lake Minnetonka. Heck, we have better fishin' here than they do in the mid-west. :-)

Roger,

Are you still using trout magnets? what colors have been the best lately? Saw your post where black/chart and white/orange were the two best colors, lots of rain since that post.

Thanks

Roger, this is amazing. Are the crappie still in the canal in Dec and Jan? Are they still biting right now? As Hagg lake is closed, trying to find a place to fish near Portland... Thanks

The crappie are in Streeter's canal all winter. When its cold out the bite is tuff. Try a warmer sunny day in the afternoon. the crappie should be 18 to 24 inches below the surface of the water. Fish shoreline brush and lily pads.
