Default Columbia River cold water bass?

I am curious if anyone here has fished the Columbia for Smallmouth during the cold seasons. I know they like to move out of the current into the backwater areas. Any experience here?

I am thinking of heading up next week for my birthday...

I have fished up river around Thxgiving. The smallmouth are DEEP and near current but not in current. Look for steep bluffs that drop into about 60 feet of water with light current or current nearby but not on the spot your fishing. Drop shot is king this time of year! and remember fish it slow.

At least for WALLEYE on Potholes Res. I noticed a huge shift the last few weeks from people mostly trolling spinner/worm harness rigs (and crankbaits) done in the fall to jigging with blade baits instead.
