About the Nez Perce or about coal mines?
By Howard or Poyer?

Howard is a co-conspirator, author is Sharfstein.

Sharfstein doesn't sound like a Nez Perce name.
Good read?

I think Sharfstein was Chief Joseph's lawyer.

It looks like a great book. I just finished a book on the Fetterman Mascare that was riveting...and what a mess!

The title caught my attention. I had not heard of that one but I have read the Thunder Over The Ochoco series by Gale Ontko.

This series is about the Shoshoni. There is a lot of Oregon history in the books. I read the first 4 (The Gathering Storm, Distant Thunder, Lightning Strikes and Rain of Tears) one summer. I couldn't put it down, volume 2 and 3 were the most interesting to me. I did not read volume 5 because I ran out of time. I started reading volume one again this Winter and got about half way through but haven't had time to finish it yet.
