Default Triangle Lake

I’ve never been to Triangle Lake but I am looking to do some more bass fishing this year. Thinking of heading out around the 4th. Anyone been out there lately? Is it a good lake to pick up some bass? I have a boat with a bow mounted trolling motor and am equipped with tackle, just haven’t traveled around much looking for bass. We normally fish the river for smallmouth and troll for lakes Kokanee.

I’ve fished it a bunch for bass, I’m no bass expert however. What I will say is I’ve caught some good ones, including a 6 pounder last month. (My video is posted on this forum, “oh my god it’s a 6 pounder.”) The trouble with triangle is the recreational boaters come out in the summer for water skiiing and such. It’s not a real big lake, so you’ll be pounded by wakes if your fishing the main lake. The outlet can be good as well as the little cove in the NW corner, maybe you can get some relief from the skiers. I’ve had the most luck with a 5” Green Pumpkin/black flake senko fished weightless and weedless. Also, you’ll need a Lane County Park Pass to park in the lot. You can get them at BiMart. Good luck!

I tried it once. I’ll never go back. It was like fishing the ocean with all the chop from the ski boats. Round and round they go in little circles. Had to wait 45 minutes to take the boat out because of one guy who couldn’t get his boat on his trailer. This was compounded by the family of hillbillies sitting in lawn chairs on the boat dock casting big plugs with treble hooks into the boat basin. Then of course the kayakers were cutting in line. Did I mention I’m never going back? It’s a shame because it could be a neat little spot.

Consider a night fishing venture. My brother & I did a night fishing trip there in the ‘80’s, caught bunches of bass that night. I would bet there is the same opportunity & you don’t have to fight the splash & giggle crowd.

Default Triangle Lake

Caught this big crappie today. Not great weather but not many ski boat out. I would consider it a good day on the water.
