Default Yamaha 200 V-max

Hey guys,
I'm looking at buying a new boat (new to me) It's a Skeeter with a 1999, 200 Yamaha 3.1 liter EFI V-Max. Never had a Yamaha motor. so any info, good or bad would be appriciated. Thanks

I had a '98 skeeter with a 175 vmax. Only issue was a starter that was replaced under warranty. No other issue's, great motor. Another buddy has an older ranger with a vmax 150. Again no issue's, just ran and ran and ran.

I have ran Yamaha's since 1999 and never once had a problem. Regular maintanace, amsoil stay below the rev limiter.
You can have a compresion check on the cylinders. I beleive it is no more than a 10% differace between them. Also they can print out a record of how long and what rpms the motor has been ran at.

The Motor is going to be serviced and all checked out before I would buy it. Thanks for the feed back. everything I have heard so far about those motors has been positive. Good news considering my 200 EFI merc just blew up.

I have a 99 Skeeter ZX202c With a 200 vmax. I bought it last year from Nixions. The only problem I had was it had the origanal fuel pumps on it and they were tired. Jeff sent them to me free of charge and I installed them and walla. Have had no issues. Just reg maintence such as you would do on any, and I am sure you will be saticfied. I will look on the site and eye the one you are looking at it could be one I know. Jeff is a strait forword guy but he does take care of his customers. No complaints here.
