Keeping a close eye on the evac map.........the fire over by Mulino is ~ 15 miles from us but we are north west of it.

North of Molalla up to Liberal just went to level 2.......

2 fires just south of me on Chehalem Mountain, very scary watching the red glow from my porch. We are safe because these are all south of us. Listening to the fire scanner it almost sounds like someone is setting fires as there are multiple fire all across Washington county. Big kudos to all the firemen and support people!

My moms place of Beckman is pretty damn close to the Bradley fire. I guess another fire just popped up off 162nd and sunny side near my house. I really hope this wind stops. Everyone stay safe.

I've been glued to the clackamas county scanner and its the same thing. New fire after new fire.. sounds like 213 just got shut down at Spangler. Looking like it may take a few homes. From what I can tell, the troops are spread thin and running out of water constantly. Hearing a lot of setting up perimeters and hoping for wind shifts.
Have the driftboat hooked up and ready to load up if needed

Jackson County (Medford, Ashland) scary as can be. I'm in Shady Cove and hill on other side of river (towards Eagle Point) is cherry red now that it is dark. Getting brighter red by the minute. Raining ash.

Checking on evacuation routes and looking like all the options are on fire. Time to turn off the computer. God help us...

My hope is that everyone stays out of harm's way and that homes remain intact. As a precaution we are preparing go bags, sleeping gear, food and water, even though we are not near any active fire sites. It's strange to look around the house and try to decide what's important enough to save in case we would need to evacuate. Taking pictures of one's stuff is a very good idea, Thanks Stick'em and Reel Fortunate for mentioning it.

Y'all stay safe and I hope everyone comes through this unscathed, CopperMan.

I have many friends and family who have evacuated from Talent and Phoenix. The fire is blowing through and now headed for south Medford. Homes and businesses burning down right through the middle of these towns. Been listening to the emergency frequency scanner and fire fighters having to give up on neighborhoods to retreat and defend the next.

I got room for the boat in front of house plus room to crash in. Plus cool stuff to stay immediate up to date and a fast way out of we have to leave. Let me know.

Thanks JC. I will tow one boat and sacrifice the other if necessary. I'm ready to launch out of here. Heavy ash falling. Fire is close. I'm at the mercy of the wind.

My family lived in Medford starting in the 1880s and most are buried in the Rogue Valley. Hard to watch this from afar.
Ironically, I am listening to our first decent rain in months down here in the desert as I write this. Today will be our first day since June 10th with a high below 90.

Sending up some thoughts for all you guys close to fires. To all of us, please check in with the older folks and make sure they are safe and getting prepared. My elderly parents, for example, would not get any messages from the news or internet. Please take the warnings seriously. This year has been bad enough already.

Said to the wife a day before the wind came up, I bet this will bring out the crazies and they'll be setting fires just to watch 'em burn. These things don't just start on their own.

Had one on the ranch yesterday south and west of pilot rock. Got it pretty well handled. Maybe 7-8,000 total between all landowners. Human caused. Thoughts and prayers for you guys with these timber fires.

Wind and downed power lines are a some of it. People driving up the canyon at the start of it described hearing trees falling all around.

PGE talked about de-energizing along 26 on Mt Hood, didn't hear anything about Santiam or McKenzie corridors.

I'm with you Harvdawg.
They broadcasted the high winds far enough in advance for these firebugs to get all set up to light us all up.
No doubt a bunch of these fires were set purposely! Hope the little Bas*rds get fried in their own sauce!
I was just checking out one of the fire maps on a link above.
The fire at Silver creek falls is part of the same that is effecting us.
I measured about 1.25 miles from us to the fire.
Still at level 2 evac notice after the wind this morning. 9/9/20.
Thanks to Mtn Man for the links!

Our house in southern California burned in the 90s from a fire that a serial arsonist set, and he was a volunteer fire fighter

A year before that we had a close call, someone drove down the road in the bottom of the valley throwing lit cigarettes out and started a half dozen fires so the fire dept couldn't get to all of them fast enough, but the wind blew away from our house and it burned hundreds of homes.

This guy set fires to get overtime pay. And only got 5 years prison for setting 30 fires.......seems low

Fishy i heard they stopped the fire last night some times from crossing 214 at the park. We are less than 8 miles by road less by way of the crow.

The Echo Mountain fire (Otis) looks to be getting worse. The evacuation area has spread, now from Rose Lodge to Otis. Hwy 18 and 101 are both closed.

Damn, now I hear that Lincoln City is being threatened... coming from the D lake road. Just off the phone with my 82 yo relative from Roads End and he said that he's staying put despite warnings to evacuate to the south. I'm cut off as the roads from the valley are closed. Just a horrible year.

Unfortunately most of that service up the Santiam is provided by Consumers Power an electric coop. And I believe that the McKenzie is covered by Lane Electric. Both are great companies and do a lot for the communities they serve, but I hope that what happened to PGE in Calif. doesn't happen to them. Neither are traded companies just a local companies trying to serve areas that the big guys (PGE & Pacific Power) don't care about.

I was just told structures are on fire on butte creek rd across the creek from Scott's mills. The fire over took the fire crew and they had to pull back. Looting has also been reported in the area .

This is very sad

current fire location. I live in Sandy and there is a feeling we will get a level 3 even though the chances of fire getting to my house is slim.

Jesus, and the mom of the 13 year old survived but is badly burned, in critical care in the burn unit. Can't imagine living through that.
