Default Ga$$$$ on the UP?

If it's going up in Cally, does that mean it will here. Sure, why not?

The Drone attack is effecting 6% of global oil delivery. According to News reports. Other supply points can increase output to cover this. Redirecting oil tankers will take time. Escalation in the gulf can block more output. UAE, Kuwait, Iraq can fill in the gap. As long as they are not locked behind a war zone.

Exactly.... let them fight their own battle. Thought we had so much oil that we are now a top exporter of oil.POTUS has said he might open our reserve to stop the price from rising.

USO ETF up almost 12%. Pretty sure it tracks oil price. The bigger problem seems to be how vulnerable they showed to be.

Why? It's a great excuse for Big Oil to gouge consumers. Speculation in the commodities market will push it even higher.

Be prepared to pay a lot more $$$$ at the pump. We topped off as soon as we heard the news. Right in time for hunting season

You have two choices here. Complain or buy some stock in oil and reap in some of the profits. $$$$

Remember "peak oil" some time back. Gas was $4 and the oil stocks went up and up and up and up...then crashed in the sub prime crash. It's a good thing it crashed, as commodity speculation was pushing prices through the roof.

I remember the '70s and the endless gas line and rationing. Sure glad we aren't dependent on imported oil these days.

ARRRGH! Yup that.
Even and odd gas days. Wait in line for hours.
I nearly was forced to go AWOL because of it, back in about 72.

A barrel is about 57 dollars which is very reasonable. What's concerning is the steep rise in nickel due to demand for batteries and electronification of cars, Tec nerd gamer toys ,I-pads and a host of other gadgets people want to waste time with. This steep increase effects the cost of stainless steel and other steel alloys that may cause panic in other markets of commodity's related to these new technologies that are gobbling up recourses that we need to make food products, affordable housing, transportation, water treatment and infrastructure investment and worst of all fishing stuff. Lures use a lot of stainless

Ya, had a pure play lithium stock that paid out nicely when a New Zealand mining outfit bought it out. Wish I'd had a lot more of it.

Copper was way up last week too. And gold has been on the rise for a few months. Commodities go up in fits and starts any more.

Wanted:

Black market, black ops groups who can carry out attacks on oil refineries, seize an oil ship or two and generally make the news and appear to be disrupting oil flow around the world.

sincerely,
Big Oil!!

Knee jerk reaction, the world we live in today. The speed in which markets And information move this should be no suprise. Oil down 1.50% in after hours.

One of the kingdoms printing presses is down, I’m sure they are moving heaven and earth to fix it and watch the current administration crack the reserves to keep the oil traders at bay if needed.

Unless the US Government seizes the oil produced by a private company and nationalizes the resource, then the companies are free to sell to the highest bidder.

Anyone believe that this might be related to the upcoming Aramco IPO? The Saudis benefit the most by getting the price of oil where they want it prior to the IPO.
This is the largest IPO in history and money is the object. Oil is up so the part of the plan is falling into place.

An attack would hurt the IPO IMO, lowers production, security concerns, general
Instability. Markets don’t like uncertainty.

"Oil prices plunged on Tuesday after the Saudi energy minister said the kingdom’s oil supply will soon be back online." Brent is off 6.55% and WTI off by 5.7%. Barring a new disruption, prices will stabilize in the previous price range. Time to put away the Valium.

Went down from $2.89 to $2.88 at the Astoria Safeway yesterday. They're usually a nickel higher than Costco.

Oregon per gallon tax is higher? It went up again in January. Remember the the highway bill? New tax on buying a car, buying a nice bicycle and stuff?

with the money everyone wastes on crap things why worry about a few cents on a gallon of gas. if you are not driving a hybrid or electric small car you have no business complaining about the price of gas. it is us that do not that make it so.

That new mile tax on electric cars being discussed, must make you very happy. I know it makes me smile

Question....Do you "REALLY" think a city like Portland could handle say 200,000 electric cars coming home at 5:30 p.m. and plugging all those electric cars in with out taxing the electrical grid or causing brown out's ? Also do you think an electric Big-Rig with 80,000 lbs would have a enough sustaining power to haul for hour's and climb our mountain passes ? They lose power and bog down as it is on passes.

Trying to reinvent the wheel sometimes come's up flat !

Some future issues related to electric vehicles is what to do with the batteries once they are exhausted. I can already see once the population has a majority of electric vehicles a tax will be imposed on vehicle battery recycling and its toxic waste components.
