Default RIP Rick (My Brother)

For anyone who reads this, please say a prayer for my older Brother Rick (58). He took his own life today after being ravaged by Parkinson's and Diabetes throughout his adult life. Rest in peace my brother. I will miss you for the rest of my days. I know you did all you could do and didn't want to be a burden to your family. Thank you for all you did for me in my life and I will see you in heaven when my time comes.

You have my heartfelt sympathy and prayers.
Those of us who have seen chronic wasting diseases up close know the toll they take on all involved. Sorry it came to this, but glad that Rick is at peace.

Sinker: Hope you or one of your brothers can take that bull. To my way of thinking, going fishing or hunting to honor a loved one is an outstanding way to cherish the memory.

Default RIP Rick (My Brother)

We had a great family get together to celebrate Rick's life. Found a wonderful place on silver creek and Great success getting everyone with the stomach to the top of the mountain where he loved to be. We found a note on Rick's desk that was a message to us all: Choose Life

Sinkerhead and family

The 3 of us will carry on. Rick will be there in spirit to help us pack out our next bull and net our next Salmon

Saw a nice Bull in a meadow below and the Helicopters working the Baldy Creek 10 acre fires. I hope they don't grow too much!

Shovel Ridge with a view of Mt Ruth is a beautiful and memorable place to place his ashes. What an awesome experience to place his ashes where he would want his body to be for eternity.

Rick's son and daughter spreading his ashes.

What a blessing to get most of the family together. I am soooo proud of all of the women in this photo who work in the nursing/healthcare industry, and Rick's son Stephen who protects our troops in Kuwait. Just incredible people here that I will cherish all of my days.

Everyone doing the Big Bull pose at Rick's hunting cabin

Also, really enjoyed finding his youtube channel today and seeing him happy and proud of his mighty 572 Z28 Blown Injected Camaro at the Aloha DQ
I believe it will be for sale soon, so let me know if you are interested in something beyond incredible. Probably about $80-90K with trailer and everything, but I don't know ... he was testing the waters in 6 figures.

Good luck fishing dude ! Watch those meds. The medical examiner said the psyco-meds prescribed (Klonopin, Valium, Prozac) , along with temporary isolation seemed to play a big part in his spiral to his early demise. As I get older, I'm realizing I just have to accept there are things us older guys just can't do anymore. I'm still going to do them, just at a slower pace Surround yourself with your loved ones, "Choose Life", and be there as long as you can. I'm still having bad days, but trying to accept I won't see Rick again until ...

We will pray for you and everyone with these terrible ailments.

I know how you feel I lost my brother in 08 and still miss him a lot still I know
the feeling will never end, He also had a combo of drugs that killed him, Im still upset the drug counselor hooked him on adderall, its was mandatory he saw her because of a DWI so the gave him drugs ???

My trouble is cancer sorry I thought Rick had something else going on.

My youngest brother was born in 1959. Watching the bright arc of Rick's life seems so incredibly familiar. You are clearly blessed to have such a strong, loving family.

While it's still on top ...
You guys have been my backstop. I come here to reminisce and I hope my post has helped others. I remember my neighbor who passed a few years ago and who used to head off into the coast range alone with his bow, he told me "hunt with your brothers as long as you can, because someday it will be over". Didn't get that big bull, actually just stared at my pack and decided to stay in camp, but it was good. Took a new fridge up to the cabin this weekend and it just wasn't the same ... This week I got laid off from my 30 year career and it couldn't have been better timing(really!, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my life as best I can and hopefully work for myself). Kids are grown and I think I can make it on my own. We'll forever miss Rick and enjoy the memories. All the best. - Chris

MY FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN
I see the countless Christmas Trees around the world below,
with tiny lights, like heaven’s stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular; please wipe away that tear,
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
but the sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
for it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away,
we really aren’t apart.
So be happy for me dear ones.
You know I hold you dear,
and be glad I’m spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
I send you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory,
of my undying love.
After all “Love” is the gift,
more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important
in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do,
for I can’t count the blessings or love
He has for each of you.
So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear.
Remember, I’m spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

Sinkerhead,

I hope that life is finding you in God's healing hands and that time has allowed a different perspective on the events that have unfolded over the past year.

Take care - tight lines!
