Never got into The Cars much.
But The Car over the lake album was pretty good. Ozark Mtn DD's.
RIP Ric.

My all time favorite!! Also loved his solo stuff after the Cars broke up. So many great songs, always rhythmic, solid beat, could crank them for sure. Nobody quite like them. With the loss of Benjamin Orr in 2000 there was never going to be a true reunion. RIP Ric.

Oh yes, Paulina Porizkova’s husband. If anyone deserves the overused title of Supermodel,
It’s her.

Cobra: good point about the loss, role and influence of Benjamin Orr. A haunted artist.

In 1979 I was a senior in high school, my sisters off to college and my parents left me home alone for a month while they went to Hawaii.... with a full pantry of food and checks made out to the grocery store, dad’s Forest green Ford F-250 pickup, and my mom’s nearly new, leather lined, sun-roofed, stick shift luxury Toyota Cressida, two big bird dogs, a house on the waterfront of Lake Washington/Mercer Island , a dock and boathouse, 12’ Aluminum Mirrorcraft and 7.5 Evinrude and a bright orange Bayliner ski boat with 120 horsepower.

It was really fun.

I had two big parties.... with live bands. And they played the Cars!

And Rick Ocasek’s music was excellent. Crisp. Fun lyrics.

“Let them brush your Rock ‘n Roll hair. Let the good times roll.”

My favorite Car’s song?

“Moving In Stereo”. Love that bass line...Turn it up!

Yes, I’d relive that month if I could.

"To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield."

(from Ulysses - Tennyson, 1833)

Saw them in 1979 at Hec Ed Pavilion in Seattle. They did a good show, but wasn't a huge fan by any means. I think Nick Gilder was the opening act so there was a lot of upside potential when they hit the stage. The things we subject ourselves to for a girlfriend.
