Aw c'mon, Oregon doesn't have bulls like that. Must be photo shopped.
I woulda been shaking so bad the arrow would fall of the rest.... if I could even pull the string back. Spectacular.

Wyatt, it’s is unbelievable what you have achieved this year. To find animals of that caliber is impressive, to find them and actually kill them is unheard of. Nice job.

Re: 2020 Official Archery Success thread!!!!
One of the coolest things about that bull is his genetics exist in an OTC unit and a similar bull may be available for harvest net year (or even this year) - getting off the roads has its advantages.
I am betting your take a similar bull next year in the same area.

Having followed these success threads year after year for many years, making mental notes of who is consistently killing the giants, there's no reason for ol'wyatt to buy a lotto ticket - luck likely played a very small role in the taking of these two monsters.

Re: 2020 Official Archery Success thread!!!!
Amazing bull Ol Wyatt!! very nice. It looks just like the bull i called in in 2018. I had him all fired up chuckling back at me at 70 yards. It was spectacular. Only problem, I had just plugged a 4x4 raghorn about 2 minutes before. As my bull ran off from the initial arrow hit, I cow called to stop him, and a huge bull came in and gored the wounded bull. Your elk looks just like that big one.

Called in for a buddy Sunday am. Headed up for the remainder tomorrow. I got a cell phone video that I’m not sure how to post, it’s not great anyways. Good luck everyone!

Don't forget the monster antelope he arrowed back in August.
Having gotten to know him a bit over the summer, it's safe to say he's one of the best hunters I know or am aware of, and more impressively- he's humble about it. If Ifish had a "Hunter of the Year" category he'd win in a landslide.

Re: 2020 Official Archery Success thread!!!!
After having a pretty good run, I've had a couple of really tough years. I took a week off and went to EO to try to get out of the smoke. It took a couple of days to get oriented and find some elk. I was able to get into a nice herd and I had a mental error and blew a golden opportunity. It was really frustrating because I've had mental errors in the last couple of years that cost me and I've prided myself on not wasting opportunities. I feel I've had pretty good success in my hunting career and it's been because I didn't waste the chances that I've had. It was fairly discouraging from that perspective, but I had found a nice pocket of elk, so I kept at it.
After a crazy morning of chasing a couple of bulls around, I was finally able to get one into range. He gave me a nice quartering away look and I took a deep breath and let the shot go. He ran through an opening before going into some second growth. As he went through the opening, I could see my arrow. At first it looked a little low, but then I notice he was really losing a ton of blood. I gave him half an hour. I told myself to give him an hour, but with the blood loss that I saw, I was sure he was down and the nerves were eating me up. I went to where I last saw him and he wasn't there. I was a little disappointed, but there was indeed a good blood trail. It was basically a stripe. I found him about 50yrds later. I'm really happy to have tagged a nice bull on a tough year. It's great to have some elk meat again!

Good job gottafish! It's been a tough year for me so far but I have one more weekend and I'm not quitting yet!
I had a few bulls going but they sure wouldn't show there face for me this year.
Were you guys calling them in or stand/groundblind hunting ?(if ya don't mind me asking)

Nice work on the arrow connection guys and gals!!! Kinda kickin myself for not picking up the archery elk tag this year. Had some stuff pop up in late August and knew I wouldn't be able to invest the time. Praying for a mild winter for next years redemption.
Been out a few times for local blacktail. Passed on a lone doe at 15 yards out of a ground blind 2 weeks ago on my sneek attack up in stage 3 evac zone in the santiam unit. I'm pretty sure she had a fawn mid August when I last checked the cams. Getting lots of doe fawn activity. But haven't captured any boys.
Mid-Late November can't come fast enough.

First kill with a bow. Spent roughly 6 days hunting the west side in the smoke before seeing a deer. Luckily a healthy doe presented a shot at 20 yds two days before moving in to college. Very thankful.

What I mean is they are spoon and crock pot bulls and we are damn glad to have them. The area we have been hunting was taken over from a huge group of guys from California. Like 25 hunters in one camp. they would drive their side by side into our camp and walk right past our camp to their treestands. Their is this one spot ive hunted for 20 years ive shot about 6 elk in this spot. ( none big) well they saw me packing a bull out of their 3 years ago. (at that time their were 6 guys from California) last year they built 4 blinds that looked like log cabins and this year they added 5 tree stands to that. Never seen so much pressure. I felt like i was being pushed out. and left after 4 days. Next year I'm burning my 23 points on a Weneha tag. After that I may hang up my bugle.

Dumb luck, right spot at the right time. Hunted for 18 days and passed on a few smaller bulls and saw some bigger. Great hunt, heard and saw elk just about everyday. I was just in the edge of the thick timber when I heard bugling coming quickly my way from the open. I stepped out and saw the herd running right toward me and actually had a cow go by me at 10ft heading into the timber. The others stopped short of me at 30 yards. The bull which was totally not interested in me but instead of a cow presented me with a broadside shot at 30 yds.

Re: 2020 Official Archery Success thread!!!!
Met a couple goals this year, this is my 3rd year in a row killing a 6 point bull with my bow and my biggest bull to date.
The most awesome part of the hunt is that my two boys 11 & 14 were my callers for the day I killed the bull. They bugled back and forth at that bull and several others for hours and put on 7 miles the day I killed the bull. My oldest was standing behind me filming with his cell phone when I shot and my youngest was standing right beside me when we stepped out of the vine maple at 45 yards from where the bull was thrashing a tree. He looked down and ripped out one last bugle as I released the arrow! Defiantly a hunt I’ll never forget.
