That's the new Epoxy zolatone that Willie has come out with. It works very well! NO GLARE and perfect grip. Stain resistant as well.

Good stuff.

I bet a few of those fish fell to the spell of the BMK.

I'll tell ya, Mainer.... IT'S A TULE! Good job!

BUT...

That full gravity hang down tail grab isn't exactly very fish friendly if you intend to release the critter.

Heck, given the reports on limits and how they pretty much hit anything you put out there, it is getting too easy. Next, they will be jumping in to the boat.

OK, teaching moment. What makes it a Tule? All I see is a bit of reddish tint and a full (of eggs?) belly.

Pretty tough out there today for a lot of boats. Just the way it is early in the run.

Really blowing out there now. Wouldn't want to be on the water.

Fished the last two days, killing fish, but not red hot.

Started on the OR side this morning up at the bridge, not the bite we were looking for. Crossed the river and hit the WA side for a couple limits of coho and chinook.

Never saw a great bite, had to grind for em a little. Actually killed a couple real nice chinook, but was so best up from running the river this afternoon I forgot to take a pic.

Be safe and have a plan, it was big water today about noon.

Completely disagree. The wind is forecasted to to blow from the south so Hammond or Warrenton would be a better choice to launch.

Personally, I will be launching at Hammond and will run in search of bait and/or rips until about 1:00 or when the sheep start showing up,whichever comes first. Then back towards the Oregon side and work in front Hammond.

Fished this morning. Had a couple bites on anchovies. No fish in the boat before the wind kicked up. I called it shortly after tide change. I didn't want to get caught out there in a outgoing/south wind combo. I feel I made the right choice. I saw a lot of other guys tuck tail and get outta there also.

3 rods 9 bites 2 keepers 28 inch coho and a small chinook. Both caught by Larry who used a treble hook as the back hook in his anchovy as mentioned by Cody Herman is his video post. To bad I didn't do it! We couldn't find a hearty bite in several areas. We had bites around buoy 22 and lost a chinook at the net (me) in that area in the morning . We ended up near the top of the troll above the bridge WA side with the rest of humanity! Few fish being caught so as the tide turned we trolled in 30 ft towards the the bridge and decided to cut across to OR as it was getting more than breezy. Got the chinook below the bridge along the first green can in nasty conditions. Had to quit and run to the sawdust wall area to avoid the wind. Coho and some chinook were being caught when we had to quit at 4:30. 16 oz at 45 on line counter trolling with the tide. Hammond has better organization at the ramp with lane and signs than I've witnessed before 6:00 launch was busy but smooth

We went out yesterday and went 3/4, all Chinooks. Kept 2 URB and released one Tule.

The wind kicked in around 11am and turned the river into a washing machine. Once we saw white caps and I was drinking salt water at the kicker seat, it was time to call it. It looked like everyone got blown off the river at the same time. It was close to a 1.5hr wait at the ramp. Sure glad I had my bow cover on for the run in.

Better fishing and weather today. Never saw a hot bite but we went 3 for 5 and had about another half doz short strikes.

Good on the ebb in front of the church. Last fish crushed the wife's rod as we reeled up for the end of the day. Bam!!

two questions: OUT OF HAMMOND: Lots of talk about wind the last few days. When the wind comes up, are there any sheltered spots a small boat could still fish on the Oregon side?
16 foot, 30 hp

Has anyone dropped a crab pot out west of the boat basin while fishing ?
Or not because of the damoic acid ban in Washington.

Fished today with 2 rods. 1/4. We boated one nice 10lb silver, lost another, released one high fin, and lost one Chinook. We fished on the Oregon side, and saw lots of silvers caught. I maybe saw 2 or 3 chinooks caught. Maybe I should of fished on the Washington side.

Used to be a great sheltered area to fish until 2 years ago....

Decent day today, started off to a good bite on the incoming tide at Buoy 22 and picked up a 2 Chinook and 2 Coho. Bite died and moved over to checkerboard and picked up one coho. Got our last Chinook on the second hour of the outgo at the church. 6 for 12 for 3 rods. Mostly on cp blues.

Weekend report: In total we went 16 for 33. Had a few miscues that caused a few extra break-offs than normal, but for the first trip of the year, we got all the rust off and caught some fish!

Saturday was tough with that aweful South Wind, but holding into the flood did produce some nice nooks for us with 35-40 on the line counters. All our fish, except one came one green and blue CP herring. Zip on choices and only one on a spinner.

SB hallucinator produced 6 nooks this morning. We found we really had to scratch out bites but when they came, they came in twos or threes. We picked up several extra fish by leaving lines in after a fish was hooked; trying to double up...and it worked!

Best part was I got hand rods off to my wife all weekend long!

Saturday... two take downs that did not stick. Got blown off water... beat our way from the bridge back to Warrenton about 11am.

Sunday... 1 small chinook, 1 coho, 1 wild coho released. Several other take downs. PCH behind flashers.

2 rods both days.

Took this photo of some unknown boat hooked up with a great sky and bridge behind.

2 for 6, started above bridge moved below to bouy 22. From the earlier reports we should of started at 22. Released jack chinook and native coho.

Has anyone dropped a crab pot out west of the boat basin while fishing ?
Or not because of the damoic acid ban in Washington.
Maybe Trestle Bay to Social Security Beach. But wind vs. run off can make getting back in to Hammond a bit dicey.

Sunday fished Trestle Bay all day, only started the main motor twice; the run there and the run back.

Brenda found her limit:

Mike found his limit of a chinook and coho:

The Mrs.'s found a nice coho:

I even found one:

Fishing divers at 35-feet with Anchovies and cut plug Herring; trolling with and against the tide.

Caught about a 15 lbs King in front of "Shipwreck" Saturday from my kayak.
Now if I can figure out how to upload a picture on here.

It was great to end a dry spell. Whewwww...
Some of the other kayakers were not as lucky......just sayin'

Found some today and lost to many to admit to, still not sure how the rod can touch the water and stay down with nothing to show for it. Left at noon when the bite died one coho short of our limits. Spreaders with the lead pinned close, flashers in tow. Orange blade chartreuse had the most hits today with Sweet Abby right behind. Various depths from 17-35 on the counter 12 & 16oz leads. Big king goes to Robby D with a nice bright chromer.
