Recently there was a discussion on frying razor clams. I noted a good number of you mentioned using air fryers, enough that it's got me sniffing around. I saw an info-mercial on the NuWave air fryer. is there a prevalent brand or model that gets thumbs up?
It takes forever to cook anything compared to a deep fryer. We only use ours for warming up leftovers. French fries, battered halibut, pheasant fingers, all come out nice and crispy. Way better than reheating in a microwave.
Yes, it does take a little longer, there is also no oil involved making it substantially healthier. We have a Cuisinart also and have been very happy with it. Probably the 2nd most used appliance in our house behind the Pellet grill, which is technically outside the house.
We have a convection oven. The wife says an air fryer is just a mini convection oven. Instead of buying yet another device, will my convection oven do the same job, and just as well?
We have one, the wife loves it. It will do some things really well such as french fries and some recipes in the book. I hate it because I wash the dishes and it is a PIB to clean. But you know the story about the happy wife.
i have one. It is OK for some stuff. I am always vaguely surprised that it works, but it does. Not sure it justifies the large footprint it takes up in my kitchen.
