Default Otis cafe suffers fire damage

Prayers to the owner and hopefully he gets it rebuilt soon. Sounds like it was faulty wiring. Best breakfast in the state w/ homemade bread to die for.

That's a darned shame. One of my favorite places in Oregon.

This is terrible news. Just had lunch there on Tuesday after fishing Depoe Bay. Our family always stops there. Sure hope they can get it going again in a hurry.

Strangely enough, the friend I was with had never eaten there and commented that he thought it odd they had never remodeled and expanded given their popularity. Maybe this will give them a chance to make it bigger and better.

Would be such a shame to forever lose an institution like the Otis Cafe.

Bigger, I hope not. Better...don’t think that’s possible... I wish them a speedy recovery from this and hope to see their molasses bread again soon. Nothing tops off our coast trips quite like a half order of hash with coffee served by a waitress named Dory!

Bummer! Hope they re-open soon, and also bring back PixieLand next to it.
Like the OLD day's.

The molasses bread... I was just thinking about it earlier this week. Hope they are able to rebuild soon. We have a friend that lives in Otis and we have her bring bread with her when she comes into town.

I talked with the owners today, and they do plan to rebuild. They are handling this better than I could, and they are thankful that nobody was injured or worse. There was lots of locals, and even some people from out of the area, that stopped by today offering their support - it was pretty nice to see actually.

They may be down right now, but the pies, potatoes, and bread are not gone forever!

My ex was a chef at Otis in our early honeymoon days. It was so fun being involved in Otis Cafe!
I was so sad to hear of it's demise.
Nothing better than swedish potatoes!
