Default Loved the speech...

Sorry for those that missed it. Nice speech about America, what we have done and what we will be doing. I’m proud to be an American!!!

Happy Independence Day all.

Thankfully got home in time to see the tribute to all 5 branches of armed forces.
I’m gushing with patriotism now. Great stuff

Don't have regular tv.
Can someone tell me who gave the speech, and maybe post a video.
I would assume, (and we all know what that means), that it was our POTUS
during his independence day hoedown?
Many garcia's ahead of time.

I thought it was BS, a great speech for Memorial Day, but not for our 4th of July, all I want is a hot dog and a beer, not a notice of how great our Military is..........

Probably. Nothing current talked about. Just a great history lesson of past 250 years. Great flyovers, great mentions of true Americans doing work.

What do I know though, just a retired veteran? I’m sure some will find heartache. Probably the ones who never served.

Proud of ya Sprig!
I'm retired and a vet. And I'd do it all over again.
Met some of the best brothers I ever knew in there during the Nam thingy.
Still in touch with about 4 or 5 of them today.
My Gawd we've all changed in 40 plus years.

Well why did you watch it then?

I suppose those that thought it was so terrible. And feel America is going in so much of a wrong direction? There's other countries around the world that would likely be more to their tastes. I'm sure some of those countries accept all comers with open arms.

As a Vietnam veteran who put his life on the line in defense of his country I have a real hard time listing to a draft dodger talk about patriotism, no matter how hard I listen it's still just blah blah blah.

You know, I agree. I thank you for your sacrifice. But, he praised the heroes and armed services. Very straight forward. All armed services.

I’ll take praise. I only served 32 years.

Absolutely unbelievable!! As a country, we needed this.

If you’re a hater, my opinion is you didn’t watch. End of story.

I agree, I took my chances with the draft and got sent to Korea, ironically to the same outpost in the DMZ where the 'historic' meeting took place. (Panmunjom)

What if it's just a link with a warning?
Maybe the AUP peeps will let it slide if a big eruption doesn't happen over polly tics?
Thanks DB.

For those who served, I salute you.

There’s plenty of folk who believe that only veterans should have the right, and responsibility, to vote.

Do you really want to make this a political thread, one of my issues is what freespool posted, and like I posted, it was more fitted for memorial day. Not a show of our mighty might on independence day, as he the POTUS wanted a military show like the Dictator Leader of NK and others, but it was nice he toned it down and had the Tanks on display rather than in motion.

I didn't watch the speech, proud to be American too.
Watching a speech on the 4th of July just seems...unAmerican!
Hopefully we can all agree that we've had good leaders and bad, and still, the country will survive.

I'd rather have the 50 million dollars they spent today go towards VA hospitals and veterans mental health services. But maybe that means I don't support the troops?
