Way Cool.
I may be able to make it.
Really all I think I need are midsized Cannonball weights. 10, 12, 14oz
I have my own lead for my needs and probably more to contribute.

Would love to join, but I’ll be leaving that day for sunny Southern California, where we will be enjoying a full week of rock and desert racing shenanigans.

Have fun, and hope I can make the next one!

See you guys there. It’s a tradition that needs to keep going. I’ll bring lead and a burner.
Edit: I can host as well. Tons of room and parking. Free beer. Sandy.
Let me know if y’all want to head east.

I have a pile of scrap copper pipe, with access to more. I’m happy to donate it to anyone that wants to make some pipe jigs. I’ve got a big burner and an old cast iron pot that’ll probably melt 100 pounds. I’ll see what I have for extra lead that I can bring to sell to those that need. I do have a bucket of wheel weights that were given to me, and I’ll give them to someone that wants to “clean” them. Most likely will need to pick them up prior to pour day, unless our gracious host(s) allow that sort of thing. Anyone want the weights, PM me.

Free beer, you say? If I can make it to either party, I’m sure I can smoke up some pork or beef shoulders.

I’ll throw in some BF sashimi as well. Again, I don’t want to step on any toes but have a place built for hosting. Maybe we shoot some shot guns afterwards?

Even though I never met him, you guys would make Hank very proud!

Good job, all of you! I don't have a big need for lead, but that free beer offer sure sounds delicious!

I really hope this get's put together and maybe call it the "fyshndad Memorial get the lead out" pouring party!

Have fun!

Sounds like a perfect location. I'll be there and bring lead and molds. Anyone have any flutter jig molds they could bring? Also interested in 2-3 lb molds for halibut.

I doubt I can make it up for this since I break out in hives any time I attempt to drive in the Portland Metro area, I do have flutter Jig moulds in 2 3 and five oz size that I would send up with any one going from the North Coast area.

If it’s in Sandy, it would be a good time to drop off anything that you need fixed up at Jerry’s Upholstery... He’s next door to a friend’s place.

Just reading this thread for the first time. I'll come for the party. I'm good on weights I have lots of molds I'll bring if it fits my schedule. I'll try and bring the "crew".

Edit: Dang, thinking about going to the desert for KOH that week. Not sure yet. We'll see what happens.

Hopefully we get a good turn out. Bring whatever you like. Food, beer, just no whiskey lol. Shot guns and handguns welcome. Leave the rifle at home. Don’t want to spook the neighbor lol.

Edit: oh yeah... chairs if you plan on sitting. I have about 20 but not any outside ones. Also bring any Hank stories. Dedicating it to him and we should every year forward.

You might get a good picture with Hank in it but you’re asking alot for a good picture of Hank. It’s just not that simple.
I’m missing him already.

Would be nice to have location address and-most important- directions for us that are not very computer literate when trying to find out where we are supposed to show up at.
Also, a phone number would really be helpful.
Can bring a pot, propane, burner and various molds and tools for people to use.

By the way, tell anyone who plans on pouring to have eye protection and good clothing and shoes-especially shoes- don't wear canvas shoes like I did last year and someone splashed lead and now I have ventilated shoes- OK for summer, but not very good for weather!
Oh yeah, don't forget good gloves!

That's a great idea, Ed. Anyone that walked around the show area at any of the recent SSS shows saw and likely talked with Hank at the descender booth. This year will be strange not having him there.

We'll see! I've got a bag of old banana's for ya by the way, where they land, nobody knows!

Really though, if I'm not at Hammers, I'll probably be up there. I'll see if Justin wants to come up with me.

Hey all

I want to do a bit of prep for the event. Some of the lead sheets that came off our roof have a bit of tar or other contaminants. Can I/should I clean the lead up a bit beforehand? How do folks recommend I do that..?

Good question. If the area I'm heating the lead in is well ventilated, I don't worry too much about cleaning. That said, I've never had much tar on it before. Might get pretty smokey. Still, I don't know what else you could do.

Just about everything will burn off, just don't breath the smoke.

I have some lead, but no molds. Will molds be available to share? I'm interested in cannon balls 8 - 20 ounces.

Any ideas where I can purchase the brass "eyes" used on cannon balls? By any chance will anyone attending have extras for sale?

Very generous of you to put this together TT. Looking forward to finally matching faces to monikers.

I am not sure that the Feb. 8 date is good to use since that is the Saturday of the Sportsmans show.
And the 22/23 is the Saltwater show.
Maybe the 15th would be better, or after the Saltwater show so people that go to these shows could attend.

I’m leaving the Hammers on the 8th, so close to 1200 miles away.

If it moves to the 15th, I’m in.

I don’t need weights, and can just send lead to Chass in flat rate boxes if I’m not available to attend the preferred date. I normally leave his lead hooked to the ocean floor anyway...

Unless he decides to go south with us. Then it’s a whole different kind of party. Bring on the smudge pots!

Couldn't figure out how to attach them to a PM, but here's a couple. Eclipse day 2017... Unforgettable day. RIP my friend.

Either day would work for me. I'll bring a burner that will melt any amount of lead, as well as a couple pots. I've all sizes of shad head jigs, 6,8,10 oz and a few others I need to scare up.
I can bring some beer too got lots of camp chairs I can bring too.

The best picture I remember is Fishndad, Tinman, SandSlider and I standing around the knot strength testing machine and putting 'em to the test. But there's no record.

That was a fun day and I learned how weak is dad's fisherman's knot. There's something about the pinch. Regardless, it always worked for trout and I can tie it blind.

Redland?! Stomping grounds: Used to hitch-hike when too far from home at Abernathy Creek.

I'll show w/ various molds.

Just about everything will burn off, just don't breath the smoke.

Thanks Chass, I haven’t poured lead since I was a kid so I’m clueless, a buddy had said much the same tho so glad to confirm.
