Default Hagg lake quick report for 09 November 2019

I fished Hagg Lake on Saturday. Spent most of the day trolling for trout but reserved 1.5 hours at the end to fish for bass.

I was testing out the maiden voyage of my Garmin Steadycast heading sensor. That thing is a game changer for fishing deeper water with the kayak. I can now see exactly how I am positioned on deep structure (boat direction) even with the wind spinning me around.

I ended up with 2 smallmouth, both around 1.5lbs, on a drop shot. Not red hot fishing but it is fun to catch bass in November!

Water temp was 52.5 degrees and the lake is down about 36 to 37' from full pool. Fish came out of 28-35' of water (fishing a small rocky hump) that dropped off sharply.

Even this time of year the early morning bite for bass is best. Glad to see you still out fishing! Some times the first 30 minutes is Wild!

Thanks for that tip!

Usually by now I am only fishing sturgeon but this fall has just been so dang nice. Now I am thinking about maybe trying to catch a bass every month for 12 straight months.
