Default CR crabbing

I heard a few guys at the dock today and on the radio talking about not getting any legal crab. I normally wouldn't bother this time of year but I am taking my 6.5 year old grandson tomorrow and he thinks crabs are pretty amazing. However, if it really is a bust right now I'd rather save my energy and concentrate on trying to get a salmon bite in the river.

Anyone do okay crabbing the river today?

Put out 5 pots on Tuesday and picked them up after fishing. Only 2 barely legal keepers and not many others.

Scratching out a few keepers may not be as enjoyable this time of year.
June, July, August, and September are not really considered worthwhile crabbing months.
Honestly, This time of year it would be best ( if you want decent legal crab) to fish for them deeper in the ocean.

With that in mind....... and its all just for fun....... throwing a couple pots out just for simple enjoyment for the grandson
might be fun. But do expect them to be small and mostly females within legal limits. If he just wants to see crabs.....then Just Do It!

Thanks for the input. The grandson would think any crab is exciting. I know it is going to be abundantly crowded tomorrow (today was plenty busy) and could be a hassle dealing with the pots and the wakes of boats but he will love seeing anything that is in the pot so I'll be a good Grand Dad and drop a few. I am looking forward to some good October crabbing but he lives in another country for half the year.
