Default Updated LI Tuna Intel

A couple of boats ran yesterday and they put up single digits...they're good anglers so it's not a skill issue but likely scattered fish. They did report seeing a Marlin out of the water 3 times!

In talking with a couple Pros last night, one boat did 2 tons in 3 days out by the 126.

Yeah, I miss the "good old days" of Halibut Hill tuna!!

Top off your fuel and lets smoke some dinos!

We fished the area north of Barta's Hole (50/50) on Saturday for the tournament.

We were never past the 124:57 line.

Troll bite on clones was excellent as well as c-plugs and swim baits.

Fish were willing to take iron on stops after troll bites.

The color break was in the 40's...temps in mid 60's.

Update for 8-1-19

The area from 124:30 out to 124:55 from the tips to the northern corners has produced fish this past week.

The fish seam to be on the blue break (mid 40's) and the inside clean green (30ish) west lines.

Trolling has out produced the iron with simple spreads doing very well. Mexican Flags and Zuccs rockin' like they always seem to do & cedar plugs taking their share as well. Blue cord caught lots of fish this past week.

It was an old school troll fishery; one that Pilar would be proud of!

All fish were free-range, non-GMO, hormone free with only a touch of Fukushima radiation!

Not a great update today with the lousy ocean. Several tough guys slugged it out with minimal success.

No we wait for MN to let us play again.

Blue cord produced for us Tuesday as well. It was a short game day and once i figured that out our action tripled. Short cords at 20ft, Xraps were just behind them. I only put them out far enough that they would keep digging and not break the surface. Clones were out the sides and just beyond the traps far enough to clear on turns.

Fish were staying down and when they do come up theyre looking at the white wash. Keeping everything tight and inside put 14 fish on the boat between 3 and 6PM and we unbuttoned 2=3 fish on nearly every hookup. Triples, quads, a quint and even a hex and not a single bite on the outback traps.

Nice report...same story for us...bringing the gear tighter to the boat resulted in more multiple hookups as did turning to the side that got bit and coming on and off the throttle.

Fished out in front of GB yesterday. As far out as the 126. Better fishing out deep around 125:40. Dive boards ruled. Probably 90% of fish on the 4 dive boards we had rigged. Scratchy was the word.... hit a quad, run back over.....nothing....move on. Ended with 35 organic, sustainable, ethically slaughtered, blood spraying, Throat sliced, tunas.

A professional just shared some insight into where the blue water break is off Little Italy...and it's CLOSE!!!

Looking at a recon trip tomorrow if the weather is reasonable with such a short run (less than 15 miles out) to see if there are any fish on the beach!

Did we time travel back to 2007? Great news for this small boat owner. Looking forward to your report. I think I picked the right week to take off work!

That hard south wind does the trick!!

Hoping the fish and the life and the break are all along the same zone for a while.

Headed out again midweek through the weekend.

My itch is incurable.

The ride out was sloppy with 4' plus residual from the blow.

We needed to get back so I never found the blue break off LI...buddy boat was up above Barta's hole and found some clean water.

Tomorrow is likely a run for the corners.

Guess I'm a little on the edge of deciding to go tomorrow or wait for Wednesday. I'm also going Friday.
Are you headed out tomorrow as well Bud?

Copy that! Friday is my next shot as well. We should have plenty of intel from the masses running Wed & Thur.

Solid numbers posted by good skippers today.

Pretty wide open today. Had 4 happy friends going home with a load of fish. A solid 50 fish day. There was no real “hot lure”, they hit everything. We fished the 44-46W x 45.49-51.

Great day! Nice work! I heard similar numbers from Tuna Time so it sounds like the fish are going to hang in the 40's!

Posting some pictures of carnage may help in choosing which type of workers comp claim to file, or I can sit here and just smash my head into the computer screen reading these reports. Man I miss my Parker this time of year. Kill em all guys!

I agree! Reading these reports makes it hard to get anything done at work

Apparently the angler handed the rod off to another person and the fight continues...it's my understanding it was hooked on a flat-fall jig.

Waiting for the next phone call update!

WOW! Too cool. Trip of a lifetime. Avoiding any jinx phrases

BC

EDIT: Well, I guess my post was a little late. At least I can rest assured I didn't jinx it. Hope they got some video.

Thanks again for the reports, reminds me of the old days. I won't elaborate on what "old" means. LOL!

man... to say i'm tempted to get my 20 footer out there tomorrow would be an understatement.... now to check to see how the boss feels about it

Then again, every forecast looks awesome except for NOAA which says 3ft at 8sec out there, which would probably be a long trip back in my boat. The 3' at 16sec on Windfinder looks much more appealing.
