OK Husker, so where's the smack already?? We're waiting! Last week you were saying something about walking quietly and carrying a big rod or something like that! OK, I won't pick on you yet, seeing as you outfished the rest of our team on the last challenge (not bad for a sturgeon virgin).

I'm not going to do too much of the flappin' for our team this time, we got a ringer named donny, hopefully won't need too much smack talk. Besides, the smack talk kinda jinxed us didn't it! So all I'll say is we hope to do better this next time!

Tilla, me, steelhead challenged? Well, maybe so but "I'm much better now". Speaking of team sneak'in out, you mean you have to have mommies permission? Leave you mop at home on the 11th cause the clean'in up will be on the Madwizzard boat. Hey, even Steelie Steve will get his limit.

What happened to SandySteel and Ampersat? Did we run them off by insulting them, or did they just get tired? I miss Sandysteel's blunt jabs...I really didn't mean anything personal. Come back and insult my lack of skills....come on, please! Ampersat was just too honest. Hmm.......

OK People,
What is going on here???????? Someone sets a challenge to fish for mud-sucking, feces eating ugly dinosaur fish that don't even fight that well for their size and the smack talkers come out of the woodwork. What did we have, over 400 posts?

The wiz sets up a challenge to fish for one of the most beautiful, majestic and challenging fish in the Pacific Northwest and I find this thread on page three after only 70 something posts. What a bunch of smack talking pansies.
You wusses aren't even worthy to fish in the Grand Wizard's little challenge. As a famous French Soldier once said.

What the heck was I supposed to do? I layed down some pretty good smack foundation and what came back made me feel like I had just played a game of eel baseball.

I realized that nobody could match me, so I let it deteriorate into what husker presented, which was some ugly concoction of equal parts Shakespeare and Prince. Sorry folks, but I can't smack something that wears purple tights.

Tell ya what. I'm going to be on vacation in the next week down in SoCal, and that means I won't be checking in to see whats going on here as often as normal. You all take off your dishwashing gloves and slap each other like gentlemen apparently do and when I have time to check in I'll see if anything interesting comes out of it.

'Bout time someone resurrected this string. I was getting disappointed.

(You know it's tough to type while looking through beer goggles)

Just did a little logistics work with Born to Fish this evening, and it is looking good for Team Moose Drool. All I have to say is watch out! The Clearwater has finally come up (18") and a ton of fish are making their way out of the 4 lower Snake Reservoirs. By the time Team Moose Drool hits the river...it's gonna be a steelie fest!

Denali is out gathering fresh intel. I'd tell you what he has discovered, but then I'd have to kill ya'.

Well, sharpen them hooks and chill the Moose Drool! Fella's we got us a contest!

Hey Mark!

Yeah I knw what a paddlefish looks like. Those are the prehistoric sturgeon wannabe things that all the Oregon Coastal Salmon Snaggers train on in the off season.

Our Steelies may not be three days out of the salt, but they are still pretty nice this time of year.
Right now the Clearwater is kicking out some dandies. (oh, wait there are no steelies in Idaho) Yeah...we're going Perch Jerking on the 11th and 12th

Whats up with that?

Tanner, I would like to say that I am very sorry for ribbing you. I had no idea you had a hampster. Let alone an attack hampster.
I am also very concerned that you have a tail. Have you seen a doctor about your tail?
Do you have a picture that you can post so we can all see your tail? If you so that would be swell.
"But unlike you I have a life beyond sitting in front of my computer 24/7."..... Is that why you have posted 300 times more than me?
Just wondering.

I have often pondered why the Northwest Steelheaders logo has Idaho, Oregon and Washington on it but the only chapters are in Oregon. I think I just figured out why.
The only state that can catch them is Oregon. Idaho farts are out in the middle of American Falls resevoir thinking that the chub they are catching are some lost strain of brown steelhead. Here's a hint guys. Steelhead can't pass Twin Falls on the Snake. Of course you haven't seen an anadromous fish that high since you sucked up all the water to make alfalfa and potatos. The Washington wussies are sipping lattes with their pinkies pointing southward and thinking that the farm raised Atlantic salmon at Costco can somehow be used to try to win this challenge. Sorry WA WA no you may not use fillets as proof of a caught fish.
{eliminated allusion to Idaho and white supremacists even I thought this was too low}

Husker, Oh, you said something a page or so ago? I almost missed it! And you didn't even tell me last night at the steelie clinic that you were laying down smack for me? Hmm, guess you were too busy trying to learn all you could about how to actually catch one of them there metalheads!

QUOTE]Originally posted by husker:
me speak softly and carry light pole....
I hear your motto is "spare the rod, spoil the fish" That why you're packing a "light pole" for the challenge? You gonna smack the water with that and splash them up onto the bank? I didn't see that in the rules! At least bring a "rod" for Husker Jr, so he and Ampersat will at least catch something!

Amp, you still raking leaves?? Haven't heard any smack from you yet! Guess you're playing it safe with those hooligans on your team! Hey, you didn't get those two front seats in the DB padded yet did you? Husker's hoping you did, it will minimize the amount of squirming he does when you give him dirty looks for putting SKUNK on your boat! We were puzzled why we had such a bad day in the Sturgeon Challenge (along with so many others) Tom had the boat tested it was determined to be carrying "huskeritis"! Amp, get your boat vaccinated quick!

OK Husker.....'nuff for now! I won't smack too much about how OUR team will do, learned that lesson last time! We'll just play our cards and see who comes up with a winning hand on game day!

Wiz,
Nice baitfish you got there. Denali was plug cutting bait like those last weekend on the Clearwater and he caught a bunch of B-Runs.

You must use a pretty good brine because those are nice and shiny!

Yep Tanner thats right, I start later than you, and get more done in less time. Just like fishing, I figure if I get out of bed by noon or so I can whoop ya. Imagine the hurt you are gonna be feeling if I get up early.

Have to go, the dog is curing eggs in the garage...unattended...without supervision....nobody is watching over..

MadWiz, nice job. It's hard to talk smack to someone when they're walking the walk. No smack from me this time. Hope we do that well on game day. Nice fish, kudos to you.

Hey all,

It is obviously a fabricated photo! Look at the Elk antler sticking out of his neck!

Tanner, leave my guide alone!

Redbull and I washed our "Moronic Convergence" off today. Team Stealth Dogs will be slapping everyone around like the wind getting the screen door on a doublewide!

Sandy Steel,
You forget that Twin Falls is located in the "Magic Valley" so anything, including Steelhead can happen. Even Evel Knievel.

Nice one Tilla. If the Clearwater drops anymore, I'll have to put on my red, white, and blue jump-suit with the stars on the sleeves, just to get from one hole to the next. I wonder how far my sled would fly if I built a 125' ramp.... (I promise I won't pop the chute early! It might take a few Moose Drools to get me to go for it though.

Mojo,

That ones a little small to cut plug for the B-runs. You could probably make a few bait wraps out of it though.

Flatfish,
Thanks for the report, unfortunately I got to spend all day Saturday cleaning the garage. Oh well at least I can find all my steelhead gear now. I also found a few things that I will send along with you for snacks during the challenge.

It's not really like I need to get out and practice whipping your behind in the challenge anyway. My team (along with the protection of the Hampster of Death), should have no problem finding a few fish.

Mark,
Aren't labs wonderful around Christmas!?! Mine is power lounging, and waiting for the Christmas cookies to cool. She still dreams of the days when she'd fetch 21 ducks without stopping for lunch.

P.S.- sorry if I ruined (temporarily) the "Smack-down" thread.

Hey Wiz,
Who was kind enough to loan you the fish in the picture? Hope they didn't charge you to much. Hey if you want on the big day I'll let you take a picture with one of my fish if you want.

AD11 Fish Adventures, you sure you want Uglygreen on your team? Have him bring the baton so he can bonk your fish.

I can't help but notice the smack is pretty light right now. Must be the Holiday spirit and good will toward men or something. Wake me up when things get a little more interesting. Us old guys need our sleep. We can heat it back up after Christmas.

Merry Christmas.

Good thing the challenge wasn't yesterday....got our behinds spanked. Started off bad....no sandshimp at Fishermans corner.
Fished from Mills creek down to Campbells on the Alsea......WOODUX and I in my green box, 8 other boats did the same drift.....all 9 boats came out smelling skunky :depressed:
Water looked fantastic....fishing "catching" should improve.

Enough of this spread the love-hippie kind of-merry Christmas garbage! Time to get back to smack!

Yes, I'm feeling full of myself (and a little left over prime rib). I won the ready-set-contest today, and I'll be using those hooks to hang B-Runzilla, the mother of all steelies! Watch out for team Moose Drool!

and yes...we're still drunk, but you aren't getting any prettier!

Mojo - Way to smack 'em, Ol' Fearless Leader. It's about time someone gets them back on track. They've gotten "spirititual" on us - sort of rolled over on their backs and already accepted defeat at the hands of Team Moose Drool.

OK Mojo ET Al!!!!
First off it's time to get things straight.
Moose Drool is brewed in Missoula MONTANA
So you might as well be called "Team Heinekin" which no one I know around here would want to be called! (Go Hefeweisen)
Good news though, you do not, I repeat, do not, need to drill a hole in the cold hard stuff (most of us call it ice) to catch a Steelhead. Unless you want to fish for Crappie with Texas RiG!

Tilla,
A) You ever been in a bar in Orofino? Check the tap handles.
B) Do you know how far it is from Konkolville to Missoula? If you know the answer to that question, you might know how to catch a B-Run.
C) When was the last time the Clearwater froze solid enough to Ice fish?

The real question is what do all these questions have in common?

Letting the photos do the talking again

Here's a Wilson pic from December 19th. The east wind was horrible, gusting to 40 miles an hour. We managed to go 7 for 10. We released 2 summers and 1 native, and kept these 4 chrome winters.

This was my first trip out in a month after surgery. Thanks to fellow guide and good friend Ian Premo ( aka Green Pirate on ifish), this day was sweet. He rowed and we caught fish. Lots of them. What a great way to get back into the GROOVE

Pictured on the left is his buddy, and I'm on the right.

See you all on the 12th.

Chris
