....and caught 'em on spoons

What about that old standby silver staple, the spinner? Well, if they eat wiggly plastic and waggly bent-metal, what's to stop 'em from crushing whirly metal?

Absolutely nothing!

First spinner-caught coho was this chunky 11 pound buck that fell to RodHog's hot rod... almost tied LMWS's 11.5 pound Kwik-caught buck from the day before.

Here's the orthodontic close-up...

It didn't take Duncan McFerron long to figure out that pitchin' spinners was his FAVORITE way to catch these critters....

Ain't they purty?

Here are the kids yukkin' it up to the sounds of Alan Jackson.

G and an O....
O and a D....
T with an I....
and M with an E...

That spells GOOD TIME.... oh, we're havin' a good time!

But sometimes they just have to get serious. Here's Emi explaining the finer points of casting from the boat to her compadre Fisher.

Of course Duncan already understands that the real secret to getting some satisfaction..... is a little less talk.... and a lot more action....

RODACTION baby (Ain't that right, brother Ken?)

This kid morphed into the ultimate spinner master almost overnight....

He was even giving LMWS a serious run for her money...

Wasn't long before he had all the boys convinced that pitchin' spinners was how all the cool kids caught fish. Even my nephew Justin joined in on the fun....

Success!

But in the end, it was the fairer gender that would pull thru with the very biggest silver of the whole trip. Here's RodHog showing the boys how it's done.... 12 pounds of chrome on 6# test using LMWS's trout rod!

Here's a final close-up headshot of the beast and RodHog's lucky Vibrax spinner...
