Default Yellowtail and Lings (not mine)

I went down to Waldport to crab and got back to the Newport Marina where some guys were cleaning some big yellow tail and lings. The crabbing was OK but it would have been better to get off shore. Ocean was a little lumpy this morning with some East Wind but the wind died and it laid down. Bar was still unrestricted and flat even with the big exchange. I crossed the bridge at 3pm. Ron, Cloud nine you might want to bring some rods in case the ocean stays nice.

Thanks Walt

If I still have crew, I'll be bringing rods in case it's nice. Jeez, it would be great to get offshore!

Just checked the Stonewall buoy, it says the swells are 5.6 ft., but the period is 12 sec! basically the same forecast for tomorrow, so I'll go to sleep hopeful tonight!

You guys are so lucky to be able to pick your days. We landlocked folks can only drool.

It's going to be in the teens tonight, with a high of 31F tomorrow. But at least we can go out and lay on the ice for greenwing teal.

Don't know how you guys live in such extreme weather. Headed to the beach house tonight. Pismo Beach Ca. Forecast high is expected to be 60 with a low of 46, burrrrrrr! Just kidding! You guys have a great fishery up there. I guess the fair weather here is somewhat of trade-off.
On a fishing note though:
Halibut trawler getting 8 to 22 pound White Sea Bass in the nets 180 to 240 of water out of Port San Luis. They're showing up under the chovy and sardine balls pushing the bait up. Makes me want to get the lines wet but we don't have a ramp for trailer boats. Gantry hoist only and it's sanded in at low tide now. Fishery is closed here for most everything else. Only way to get the bass is put in at high tide, rent a mouring for overnight and hit it just before sunrise. Ocean Salmon and Rockfish should open April 30th/May 1st for us down here.

Happy Holidays to all the dogs!

Tight lines and 4kt winds
