Default Sauvies Island hunt

My buddy pulled chip #2. We got on mud lake 4 which shot over 30 birds the hunt day before. We ended up with 14 with 3 guys. we lost 4 birds and shot like crap but the birds were working mud lake 3 like it was candy! How did everyone elses hunts go?

Oh yeah and I fell my goofy butt in the water up to my neck and filled up my waders and lost my cell phone and ruined my liscense

My dad is happy

Hunt em up- I totally agree with you! Nothing was working in at all. The pintails were the worst. They dont decoy worth nothin. The wigeon and teal were decoying well and the mallards were ocassionally.

Lance- Bryan shot a couple more mallards and his brother shot some wigeon. I left before they did because I was getting cold standing there with 6 inches of water in my boots and I drained them out a few times lol.

Neff-

I was the guy in Mud 3 that you brought the mallard back to. Nice to meet you. Hey, are you the guy that shot the bird with the money band this year at Mud 1?

We drew chip 33 and decided that instead of taking a weak blind we would be first on the list and go get breakfast, luckily it worked out for us this time when the two guys in Mud 3 came out with their limit. We ended with 8 birds, 5 widgeon and 3 mallards. All were shot in an hour and 45 min.

Hunting was great, for some reason they just wanted into that blind. The guys before us had 10 dozen dekes, we had about 3, with the same results. Still, it was hands down the most frustrating/embarassing day I've EVER had. My lab just had a litter of pups a few months ago and hasn't been the same since. Actually, that is an understatement, it's like I have a totally different dog. She wines, breaks on shot, doesn't come back when she's on a bird, and basically could care less about what I have to say or am doing. I really don't know what to do. At home and in training she a well behaved dog, but when we get in the blind it's like she's on crack or something. Anyway, I think this will be her last trip. I'm going to spend my time and energy on my chocolate male from the litter and try to make sure the same thing doesn't happen to him.

Any opinions on shock collars? I've never considered using them, but I'm out of options I think.

Get a Dogtra or tri-Tronics don’t waste your money on anything else. It sounds like she just needs a little work and a collar might help here focus her attention back on you. But you must train your dog to work with a collar first so they know how to turn off the juice.

My Dog has been to a pro trainer and was almost ready to go for his hunt test titles but has started to do those very same things and I blame it on the fact that he has been recovering from being hit by a car last December and I haven’t been able to work with him until now.

Don’t give up on her just give her a little refresher and she will be fine.
